Simone Giannelli sets the ball during the match at Eurosuole Forum
Civitanova Marche (Macerata), November 1st 2017
The report of the match. For the third seasonal match at Eurosuole Forum of Civitanova Marche, Angelo Lorenzetti puts on the field in the starting six: Giannelli as setter, Teppan in the opposite role, Lanza and Hoag as spikers, Eder and Zingel as middle-blockers and De Pandis in the libero role. Kovacevic and Vettori starts from the bench. Cucine Lube answers with Christenson as setter, Sokolov in the opposite role, Juantorena and Sander as spikers, Cester and Candellaro as middle-blockers and Grebennikov as libero. The home team has the better impact on the match and, after an initial equilibrium, runs away from 5-5 to 6-10 making the most of the performances of the formers Juantorena and Sokolov. The yellow-blue time-out is providential because, at the resumption of the game, Trento changes attitude and fills the gap already on 13-13 thanks to the attacks of Hoag, the block of Sokolov on Teppan and an ace realized by Lanza. The central part of the set is then fought point-to-point (15-15, 17-17) but then the Bulgar opposite gets his team ahead (17-19, 19-22) and decided the first set because then they yellow-blues can’t get closer again (22-25).
In the second set Diatec Trentino tries to react getting on 5-2 thanks to some mistakes of the opponents which almost immediately change state of mind and achieve a partial of 0-5 with some blocks of Sokolov and Juantorena at service. Trento doesn’t back down and fills the gap with Hoag (9-9) but is still Lube to make a difference with its block phase (13-15, 18-20). The yellow-blues get on 23-23 with an ace of Zingel on Juantorena. The home team gets the upper hand with achieving six set balls in a row after closing on 28-30 with an error of Vettori who, in the meanwhile, positively entered the field in change of Teppan.
In the third set Lorenzetti confirms the Italian opposite among the starting six, but Diatec Trentino quickly loses contact with the opponents (2-5, 6-9, 8-11) because Sander and Juantorena are on fire and at the same time “Lady Luck” helps the opponents (lucky ace of Cester on 12-16). Trento tries again to react and gets closer two times with Lanza (18-18 and then 22-22 after the 20-22); in this case as well the advantages are needed, with the hosts who can’t make the most of two occasions in a row to close the set (both with service errors) and then lose at the third set ball of the opponents because of an attack error of Vettori (27-29).
