Renee Teppan spikes during Milano-Trento
Busto Arsizio (Varese), 30th December 2017
Diatec Trentino arrives at PalaYamamay in Busto Arsizio with Giannelli as setter, Vettori as opposite, Kovacevic and Hoag as spikers, Eder and Zingel as middle blocker and De Pandis as Libero while Revivre Milano in its starting six lines up Abdel-Aziz as opposite, Klinkenberg and Schott as spikers, Galassi and Piano as middle blocker and Fanuli as libero. At the beginning of the match Trento, thanks to the attacks and services of Kovacevic and Hoag has the control of the match (6-2); Milan tries to respond with Abdel-Aziz (9-6) and Piano who with a strong block goes up to 14-13 (Lorenzetti’s time out). The match continues and Vettori’s mistakes (two times in a row) allow the rivals to take the lead (16-18). Trento reacts with Hoag’s ace (20-20) but then it suffers the service of Abdel-Aziz (20-23) that puts an end to the first set (22-25). Throughout the second set Diatec Trentino tries to recover but Revivre takes advantage from every break point opportunity and it gets the upper hand (5-7,11-14) in particular thanks to Abdel-Aziz. In the central part of the set the home players are all the rage (12-17), take advantage of the hosts’ uncertainty in receiving the ball and in the net area. Lorenzetti alternates Kozamernik to Zingel, Lanza to Hoag and Vettori to Teppan; the yellow-blues reaction is belated: Lanza gains the (15-17), then Milan quickens again(17-23) this time with Scott. Eder’s services take back Trentino to 21-23, before the two side-out phases without problems of Milan gave them a new 22-25 and the first point of the placings at sake.Diatec Trentino have their back to the wall and they play with all their efforts in the third set, springing in a good way from the starting points with Lanza, Teppan and Kozamernik (they have remained in field after their entrance in the end of previous set). Milano have difficulty to follow their opponents (6-2, 11-8, 16-12) also thanks to Giannelli. In the worst moment Revivre makes Sbertoli joining the fight and Giani’s team gets to the 20-20. Trento remains calm and operates well during the side-out phase with Teppan and then they rely on Kovacevic to win 25-22 bringing the match to the fourth set.The yellow-blues are very enthusiastic and they start very well also in the fourth set (7-3), taking advantage of a good service rotation of Eder. Milan feels the blow, they are divided and they keep making mistakes. On the 12-6, Giani has already used a time out and lined up both Perez Rivera and Galassi, without finding any particular reaction, because Kovacevic keeps to lay down the law (18-12, 22-13), also thanks to Kozamernik’s services, that close the set. The tie break is fought till 10-10, then Revivre Milano quickens with Abdel-Aziz (10-12); Lorenzetti’s time out is heaven-sent because Diatec Trentino gets to 5-1 thanks to Kovacevic and close the set with 15-13.
