20 point in Latina for Nicholas Hoag
Latina, February 7th 2018
The chronicle of the match. Angelo Lorenzetti confirms the Diatec Trentino again with the three-spikers module; Lanza covers the opposite role diagonally to Giannelli, with Hoag and Kovacevic reproposed then in place 4, Eder and Zingel in the middle, De Pandis and Chiappa to alternate in the role of libero. The starting six of the Taiwan Excellence Latina, on the other hand, includes Sottile as setter, opposite Starovic as opposite, Savani and Ishikawa as spikers, Rossi and Le Goff as middle blockers, Shoji as libero. The start of the match has been very contracted by Diatec Trentino, which in the first actions often runs into direct error, allowing the hosts to fly immediately on 2-5. The yellow-blues immediately take refuge in a time out; at the restart with Hoag in attack Trento goes up to the less one (7-8) but it is only a moment because then another empty pass in attack of the guests allow the opponents to run away again (10-14). Lorenzetti then throws into the breach Vettori (in the place of Lanza), but the scoring situation worsens again (13-19); in the final Giannelli and his companions begin to play, arriving until 20-23, before yielding on 21-25 at the hands of Starovic and Ishikawa. In the second set the Diatec Trentino tries to turn the page and with Hoag (attack and pungent service) runs away on 7-3. Giannelli with an ace protects the advantage (10-5), then is Savani with two consecutive walls on Lanza to enliven the locals bringing them back (13-11). To shake off the opponent again, the yellow-blues needs a great wall of Eder and an attack of the Canadian post 4 (17-14). The Diatec Trentino resumed pace during the break thanks to Kovacevic (20-16, 22-17), closing the match in the partial on 25-20 thanks to a second-line attack of Uros. They started again from the 1-1 of the third set and the constant tie (6-6, 9-9) was broken by the 9-12 obtained thanks to Starovic. Lorenzetti asked for two time outs in a period of a few seconds, with the aim of motivating his team, and he succeeded in that. When Zingel and Eder came back in the field, indeed, they became the absolute protagonist performing almost all the points till point 14. After that Kovacevic and Vettori, who had just entered the field, ruled the match making Trento arrive at 17-14 and then 22-17. The set ended 25-18 with Zingel showing off. The two teams reach the 10-10 during the fourth set, then opponents reach the 10-12. Lorenzetti asks for another time-out and, as happened in the previous set, the yellow-blues take the lead with Kovacevic that makes the match (21-17), because Latina doesn't replay and then loses 3-1 (25-18) after the point scored by Kovacevic.
