Italian Champions on the field in Schio on Wednesday: test match with Padua at 7 p.m.

Trento, 7 October 2025

Seven days after the first official friendly match, which was won 3-1 in Rovereto over Brescia, the men’s Itas Trentino returns to the field for a new test match, which promises to be even more interesting and exceptional than the previous one: it will, in fact, be the first against a team of SuperLega.
On Wednesday, October 7, starting at 7 pm at the PalaRomare in Schio, the Italian Champions will challenge Sonepar Padova for the match that offers the 3rd “Trofeo Città di Schio” (City of Schio Trophy). For Trentino Volley, the pre-season event in the territory of Schio is currently becoming a pleasant and consolidated tradition; it will be the fourth time over the course of the last eight seasons. The most recent match dates back to September 11, 2024, when they beat Piacenza 3-1, while in 2023, the match was played against Modena (which won in four sets).
However, less than two weeks after their debut in the 2025/26 SuperLega, coach Marcelo Mendez will still have to deal with an incomplete team: in addition to Lavia, the new World Champions Michieletto and Sbertoli will also be missing, who carried out their first training with the group just this Monday and who, between today and Wednesday, will be in Rome for institutional commitments with the Italian national team. The new Argentine coach of Trentino Volley will therefore be able to count on the same team used last Wednesday in Rovereto, with Bartha, Faure, Flavio, Gabi Garcia and Torwie who will, unfortunately, have an extra week of leg work with their teammates.

The yellow-blues will Padua on the other side of the net, a team that has already done three test matches against teams of the same category (two with Monza, again winning 3-1, and one with Verona, drawing 2-2) and which has been working at full strength since the beginning of this week; coach Jacopo Cuttini will thus be spoiled for choice with a roster that can count on Italian high-ball attackers Gardini, Held, Orioli and Stefani, the aces of libero Diez (French) and the opposite Masulovic (Serbian) and the clutches of middle-blockers Polo and Nachev (Bulgarian) and setter Todoric (Serbian).
There will be over 2,100 spectators awaiting the two teams; the PalaRomare in Schio is going to see a sold-out match. Only about a hundred tickets remain available, which will be sold at the checkout on the evening of the match and online at the following link: www.vivaticket.com/it/ticket/iii-trofeo-citta-di-schio-sonepar-padova-vs-itas-trentino/276403.
