A “block” against poverty: in Nairobi the 7th mission for Amref Health Africa is underway

In addition to the first team and to the youth sector, Trentino Volley works hard to get ahead with the project “Facciamo muro contro la povertà”. The week that it’s about to end will be remembered as the week that launched the third year of operation in Dagoretti (Nairobi) which is coordinated between Amref Health Africa e Trentino Volley. After the excellent results obtained during the first twenty-eight months of the project, the coach Dario Sanna got back to Kenya in order to oversee and to guide the organisational operations of the seventh mission of the project: the coach is facing not an easy task but he is working enthusiastically thanks to the valuable experience that he gained throughout the last two years. “I’m going to stay in Nairobi until the first days of March to verify that the project is being correctly carried out, to offer a new impetus to the project and to allow people who take part in the trainings to use new equipment provided by Trentino Volley such as T-shirts, nets and in particular balls – explained Sanna directly from Kenya- Last summer, we hosted two coaches of Dagoretti involved in the project on the occasion of a stage of the BIG Camp and it was very useful to show them how we train our guys. Nowadays, there are about fifty people in the district of Dagoretti who know how to move in a volleyball court and who started to love this sport. The days go fast because we planned some activities divided into groups both for the morning and for the afternoon; it’s wonderful to see the participants’ enthusiasm and how big is the will to work for a common project that helps to escape from the reality even for a few hours.”
This project will live other important moments related to the game but also to the growth of every involved part. To raise the awareness of the public of PalaTrento, on the occasion of Sunday’s match against Sora, Amref Health Africa and Trentino Volley will arrange a booth in which a qualified staff will be at everyone’s disposal in order to explain the social value of this initiative.
