The guide for Diatec Trentino-Calzedonia Verona, match 1 of quarter-finals

Simone Giannelli set the ball during a Trento-Verona match

The UnipolSai 2018 Play Offs have started, with the match 1 of quarter-finals. In the first round of the scoreboard that assigns the Scudetto, the Diatec Trentino will challenge the Calzedonia Verona in the traditional dell'Adige derby to the best of the three matches that will assign a pass to the semifinals. The match will start on Sunday, March 11 at PalaTrento: begin scheduled for 6 pm. Live RAI Sport + HD and Radio Dolomiti.
Here Diatec Trentino After its ascent in the points table, gaining the fourth place of regular season, the hunt for the fifth championship of Trentino Volley carries on in the Play Offs, in which Diatec will have to  face the opponents that after the second round gave life to a very long head to head in order to pass for the semifinals. Assuming that the difference between the two teams was minimal, Angelo Lorenzetti asks for maximum attention and caution in approaching Calzedonia and, more generally, this particular phase of the season.
"The quarter-final that puts the two teams that have concluded the regular season   close to each other against each other is always very special - he explained presenting the appointment - so much so that in the last ten editions most of the time it happened that was the most backward team in the standings to qualify in the semi-finals. We have to keep this fact in mind to get closer to the series with humility and determination, because we will have to deal with a team who will not give us anything and who knows how to put us in difficulty ".
For the debut in the UnipolSai 2018 Play Off Scudetto the Marches technician doesn’t accuse any particular problems of the team; in the last days only Teppan and Cavuto have trained separately, but on Sunday they will play regularly. Those who will start tomorrow will be the seventh Play Offs for Aidan Zingel and Filippo Lanza; the captain is the player who currently has the highest number of appearances in the post-season stage (a total of 41) while the absolute beginners are five: Cavuto and Teppan, as well as Eder, Kozamernik and Hoag. Sunday evening Trentino Volley will play the official match number 752a of its history, the 104th in the Play Off Scudetto and will go on the hunt for the 523st victory.
The history of Trentino Volley in the Playoff Scudetto With the one of Sunday at PalaTrento, the participations in the Trentino Volley Play Off Scudetto in eighteen seasons of activity become sixteen. On the fifteen previous occasions, in ten circumstances Trent managed to overcome the first round; the eliminations came to the quarters so they only arrived with Modena (2002/03 in five matches and 2013/14 in two matches), Perugia (2003/04 in four matches, after winning the regular season), Piacenza (2004/05) in five matches ) and Cuneo (2006/07, in three matches). In this edition the Society of via Trener will be able to go in search of the possible final ninth in the last eleven participations. Excluding the unfortunate presence of the 2013/14 season (two matches and two defeats), in every Play Off that took part Trentino Volley has always won at least one match; in twelve cases out of fifteen already in the first disputed match: it happened at home with Perugia for 3-2 in 2004, in Piacenza for 3-1 in 2005, in Cuneo for 3-2 in 2007, at PalaTrento against Modena (3-0 ) in 2008, at home again with Vibo (3-2) in 2009, with Verona (3-0) in 2010, against San Giustino in 2011, in 2012 (3-0 at PalaTrento), at Vibo Valentia in 2013, at PalaTrento against Molfetta in 2015 and 2016 (double 3-0), with Monza at home (3-0).
The opponents Calzedonia Verona inaugurates its tenth presence in the Play Off Scudetto on Sunday; in the previous nine has never managed to overcome the first round. Lost for only one point of distance in the standings the fourth place, the formation of the former Grbic, Birarelli and Djuric (who will not be in the match) must necessarily be able to win at PalaTrento (as it was already in early November) access to the semi-finals. To do so he will rely on the service (among the five most incisive of the tournament) and his guns: the American spiker Jaeschke (excellent debut in the Italian championship) and the Slovenian opposite Stern, who was able to let weigh less the prolonged absence of Djuric. The Iranian Manavi also provided a great contribution (surprise of the season, so much to force Maar to sit often on the bench) and the other Slovenian, the middle blocker Pajenk, effective at the net as incisive at the service. Given the proximity of the trip, the Calzedonia will be followed in Trento by a substantial number of fans.
Background For the second time in the history, the dell'Adige derby between Trentino Volley and Blu Volley Verona is played in the Play Off Scudetto; the only precedent is referred to the 2010 edition, always in the quarterfinals: Trento passed the round in three matches (3-0). What will be played on Sunday will be the thirty-second official match; the statistics are 23-8 for the Club of via Trener, but at home has lost four of the sixteen matches played, including that of the regular season just ended. The formations have in fact conquered the field of the other in the two previous seasons, with success for 3-1 of the Scala at PalaTrento on November 4 and Trentino with the same score at the PalaOlimpia on January 21.
The series The quarterfinals are played at the best of the three matches; the team that passes two of them wins the series. After the match 1, the duelists will return to the field in Verona for the match 2 on Saturday, March 17 at 20.30, while the eventual match 3 (if any were needed) would be scheduled for Sunday, March 25 (18 hours), again in Trentino. The team that will continue its race will find in the semifinals the winner of Perugia-Ravenna, a match that opens already this evening in Umbria. The other two quarter-finals at the bottom of the board are Civitanova-Piacenza and Modena-Milan.
The referees The supervision of the match 1 is entrusted to the very expert couple Roberto Boris and Daniele Rapisarda, who are arbitrating together for the first time in this season. Boris, from Pavia, has been doing this job since 1997 and he's ben an international referee since 2010. This is the 16th time for him at PalaTrento during this championship of SuperLega; During this season he already arbitrated Trento-Latina 3-2 of November 23rd and the semifinal of Coppa Italia Perugia-Trento 3-0 of January 27th in Bari. Rapisarda, from Udine, has been working in serie A since 2002 and at an international level since 2011. During this season he arbitrated 18 matches and he met Diatec Trentino in Civitanova on November 1st (lost 0-3), in the home field when Trento won 3-1 against Monza on December 26th and also the victory in Monza, won at the tie-break, on February 18th.
