Diatec Trentino-Calzedonia Verona 3-0, the match report

Filippo Lanza spikes against Verona block

The match report. Lorenzetti displays the starting six with Vettori as opposite, Gianneli as setter, Lanza and Kovacevic as spikers, Eder and Kozamernik as middle blockers and De Pandis and Chiappa in rotation as libero. Calzedonia Verona displays Spirito as setter, Stern as opposite, Maar and Jaeschke as spikers, Birarelli and Pajenk as middle blockers and Pesaresi as libero. The match starts and the rivals take the lead (0-2) and they hold it up to the 3-5, before that Lanza with a block and an ace turns the tables (5-5 and then 9-8). Kovacevic’s counterattack brings up to 12-10 forcing Grbic to call a time-out but when the match starts again Diatec Trentino bites the bullet during the phase of break point with Kozamernik’s service and Uros’ pipe (16-12). The yellow-blues begin to waver (16-14) but then they regain their strength and go up to 20-15; Verona got the credit for having been cohesive and for having recovered thanks to Maar (block and attack for the 20-18), this situation pushes Lorenzetti to field Teppan instead of Vettori. Trentino Volley restarts amazingly (24-20) as usual thanks to Kovacevic who closes the set with an ace (25-20). Diatec Trentino starts in a very good way also the second set thanks to the serves of Lanza (4-0). Verona arrives up to minus two (8-6), before suffering a new break (13-8) triggered by Kovacevic and the serves of Eder. Also Vettori, back in field, leads the team to the +6 with his attacks (10-16), capitalizing Kozamernik’s work in the net area. During the best moment the tension eases a little for Lorenzetti’s team and Verona arrives up to 21-21 also thanks to Pajenk. But then a wonderful block of Vettori on Jaeschke changes again the situation and Lanza closes the second set (25-22). Grbic tries to improve the situation at the beginning of the third set lining up Manavi as striker and moving Jaeschke to the opposite role instead of Stern. Is indeed the American player who leads the team to the 8-7 until Lanza starts serving and makes his team accelerate to the 12-7, also with a direct ace. Verona is on the ropes and starts breaking down because of Kovacevic aces in series (15-10, 21-12). The 3-0 arrives on the 25-15 with a block of Giannelli.
