Play Offs, semi-finals vs Perugia just like two up to three last editions (2015 and 2017)

The semi-finals of the upper part of the round of Championship Play Offs Unipolsai 2018 will give space, for the third time in the last four edition, to the match between Trento and Perugia. The match has in fact taken place in the same phase of the round in 2015, when Diatec Trentino managed to win in three matches (2-1) and then to conquer the title, and in the more recent one (2017), when Trento obtained the pass for the Final after five matches (3-2). The two clubs have also achieved a quarter-final of Coppa Italia 2013, two semi-finals of Coppa Italia (2015-2018) and a semi-final of Supercoppa Italiana (2017), with the two more recent matches won by the team from Umbria.
The one that will be played on Thursday March 29th will then be the third overall match in the Play Offs between the two Companies, but not between the two cities.
This is because Trentino Volley played versus RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia (a Company different from the one of Gino Sirci) in the quarter-finals in season 2003/2004, and the team from Umbria (which placed eighth in ranking in regular season) surprisingly managed to win versus the yellow-blues (first in ranking).
For Sir Safety Conad will be the fifth overall presence in semi-finals in six participations to the Play offs; only at its debut in season 2012/13 was stopped in the quarter-finals (defeated by Piacenza) whereas in two other circumstances managed to reach the Final, which was lost in four matches (1-3) versus Macerata in 2014 and in three matches (0-3) versus Modena in 2016.
