The 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League Playoffs 6 are about to start. After the Main Phase and the Playoffs 12, the most important european club competition continues with the last double-match turn before the Final Four in Kazan (Russia, May 12-13th). Trentino Diatec will face Cucine Lube Civitanova in the italian derby, scheduled on Wednesday April 4th in Marche. In the Eurosuole Forum at 8:30pm, the match will be covered live on Fox Sports and Radio Dolomiti, with live streaming on www.laola1.tv.

Here Trentino Diatec Two years after the last time, Yellow-blues returns in the Playoffs 6 of the tournament that they won for three consecutive editions, from 2009 to 2011. Facing one of the most favourite team for the final victory, Trentino must complete an almost epic challenge, first in the away match on Wednesday in Marche, then in the return match on the 11th at BLM Group Arena, by scoring more points than their opponents. Each of the two matches allows three points, just like a regular season match; at the end of the turn, the team with the most points will access the semifinals, with an eventual golden set.
“We face an opponent that proved to be playing their best volleyball against us, setting their pace no matter where or against whom they play - said Angelo Lorenzetti, at his 100th match with Yellow-blues. In comparison with our latest performances, we want to prove more focus and carisma in Civitanova, with personality and managing the situation. Probably with the actual rules the return match will have a bigger importance on the challenge, but in order to have a say we must accomplish something at Eurosuole, too. I’m glad to be here to celebrate this personal goal on this occasion. Time has been flying, it’s a sign that I am happy to work here and that I enjoy every day”.
yellow-blues left trento yesterday morning heading towards civitanova, with the full roster available.
The formula and other matches The match on Wednesday represents the first of the two matches valid for the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League Playoffs 6; in the second turn of the final table, the best six teams in Europe are facing each other in a double-match to find out which three teams will join Zenit Kazan in the Final Four in Kazan (Russia) on May 12-13th. The teams that win both matches will access the final; only if both teams win one match each at the tie-break, or if both win one match each at least in four sets, will the Golden set at 15 points take place. The two matches are scheduled contemporarily to the match in Civitanova: at 8:30pm Sir Sicoma Colussi Perugia- Lokomotiv Novosibirsk and Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle - VfB Friedrichshafen.

The opponents After the defeat for 1-3 in Modena on Easter Sunday, a result that restored the parity in the series of semi-final Play Off Scudetto against Modena, Cucine Lube Civitanova is waiting for the match because that is the opportunity they have to ransom and to approach in the best way the match against the Emilians that will be played on Sunday. After the third place conquered in the Final Four 2017 of Rome and the second place in the polish Club World Championship in December, Cucine Lube is attempting to achieve another important result in this Champions League and they demonstrated to have the skills to achieve. The amazing double success in the PlayOff 6 against the Polish of Belchatow confirmed it; in Champions League the trainer Giampaolo Medei has no limits as regards the number of foreign players he would line up simultaneously and for this reason he has many possibilities, he can line up different players especially in the middle-blocker role and in place 4. However, the two Diatec Trentino former players Sokolov and Juantorena are those who has often made the difference. In the first eight matches of the tournament they realized 235 points.

The referees The match will be directed by Alexey Pashkevich, first Russian referee from Mosca and by Michail Themelis, second from Larissa (Greece). Themelis is the only one who have already worked with Trentino volley, he directed in fact the last going match of Playoffs 6 of Trentino Diatec in the Champions League (won 3-0 at home against Belgorod on March 17th 2016), he also directed Izmir-Trento (1-3) on February 1st.
