Back with Superlega again, here the guide to Itas Trentino-Callipo Vibo Valentia match

On Thursday 1st of November, SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19 will be back again for the fourth turn of regular season. On this occasion, after two away matches, Itas Trentino will be back at the BLM Group Arena in Trento playing against Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia, which respresents the fourth day of matches. The match will start at 6 p.m. and will be live on Radio Dolomiti and Lega Volley Channel.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO Eighteen days away from the last previous match, Itas Trentino players meet their fans again, willing to move on after the first seasonal stop in the championship (due to the result of Perugia’s match), and ready to restart the upcoming month on the right foot, which will be very busy. In this match against Vibo Valentia indeed, Itas Trentino will open a period of 29 days during which 10 official matches are planned, including the away matches in Italy (Civitanova Marche and Bari) and the international ones in Poland (World Club), in Switzerland or in Ukraine (CEV Cup).
“The race for one of the first positions in the rank at the end of the initial tournament, which is very important also for the ranking list of Coppa Italia 2019, is full of pitfalls but at the same time it has to be our main goal for this first stage of championship – the coach Angelo Lorenzetti said - . So from this point of view, the match against Vibo Valentia will be particularly important and very tough at the same time. We are going to compete against a team that, as they have already showed in the first days, has great potential in the stroke, is very organized during the break point and very strong in the attack as well. This is why I hope our team will immediately kick off on the right foot, but also without aiming too high. Right now, what we need first of all are facts“.
The trentino coach can count on the complete roster made up of thirteen players, who will train at the BLM Group Arena in the late afternoon of today and during the morning on Thursday. On this occasion, Trentino Volley is going to play its 769th official match and will try and gain its 531th major success: so far they boast 277 victories at home and 253 gained during away matches.
THE OPPONENTS Right as Itas Trentino, during last weekend Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia was defeated for the first time in the regular season of the championship. However the 1-3 against Monza has not erased the good impression made during the first days by the team of Antonio Valentini (vice coach of Blengini in the national). The successes achieved against Castellana Grotte and Siena have indeed confirmed how the team, which during the summer has been trained by the sports director Ninni De Nicolo (in the last season in Trento as talent scout), can aim very high. In comparison with the past, the sextet has been revolutionised, apart from the libero Marra. Among the numerous new faces, we can find the one of Al Hachdadi, the opposite spiker from Morocco (taken by the French of Poitiers) and of the spiker Skrimov (ex Latina and Milano): mostly thanks to both of them the team has won the match of Superlega, but the Tonno Callipo Calabria can also count on the great ability of Zhukouski, from Croatia, as on the efficiency of the central Mengozzi and the willingness to gain reward of players such as Vitelli and Strohbach, which lately is preferred to the Brazialian Barreto in position 4. In the first three days Vibo Valentia has already showed all its skills both in the block and in the stroke, fundamentals where the team results to be the second highest of the tournament thanks to direct points which have been gained just after Perugia.
PREVIOUS MATCHES Starting from the 3rd October 2004 (the first official regular season match between the two teams) Trentino Volley and Callipo Sport Vibo Valentia have competed against each other several time during these 14 years. In particular, they played 29 matches (also including 5 Playoff matches and two Coppa Italia matches) and Itas Trentino won 25 games in total. Trento is proud to have won the last 8 out of 10 matches; the most recent victory of Vibo Valentia date back to 11th December 2016 (Vibo Valentia - Trentino Volley: 3-2). On 21st February 2018 they faced each other for the last time, in occasion of the return match of the last regular season (Trento won 3-0 thanks to the results of the three sets 25-16, 25-19, 25-21).
REFEREES The match will be directed by Marco Braico (from Turin, in the main league since 2003) and by Dominga Lot (from San Donà di Piave – Treviso, in serie A since 2010); the two referees are going to direct their second seasonal match in SuperLega Credem Banca. The last time that Marco Braico directed a match with Trentino Volley was against Sora (in Trento, on 25th February, when Trentino Volley had won 3-0), while Dominga Lot directed Trento-Piacenza on 11th February (3-0).
