Cucine Lube-Itas Trentino 3-2, the match report

Here the live commentary of the match. Surprisingly Angelo Lorenzetti chose Russell as spiker, Nelli as opposite spiker but he confirmed Van Garderen as first-string. The role of the other five players didn’t change: Giannelli as setter, Kovacevic as wing spiker, Lisinac and Candellaro as middle-blockers and Grebennikov as libero. Cucine Lube Civitanova had Bruno as setter, Sokolov as opposite spiker, Leal and Juantorena as wing spikers, Simon and Cester as middle-blockers, Balaso as libero.
Trento, thanks to some Kovacevic’s actions, scored immediately some advantage points (7-5) which later doubled (13-9) thanks to the Lisinac’s block and the Nelli’s ace. During the middle of the set Trentino Volley also was 6 points ahead  (17-11), but then they lived a total blackout and Lube, with Juantorena, exploited this situation to tie (20-20). During the worst moment, Trentino Volley, thanks to the Van Garderen’s and Nelli’s actions, scored 25-22 and won the first set.
After the break, Lube showed the best of them and with Juantorena in the net area the team quickly scored important points and gained the lead (3-5, 5-10), becoming impossible for Itas Trentino to cover the lost ground, given the weak offence and difficulties at receiving and blocking. The home team kept having a higher score (7-15) and quickly won the set (14-25) after a great “monologue” since Kovacevic and Van Garderen found difficulties in finding space.
During the third set Itas Trentino tries to catch up, keeping up with Cucine Lube that is doing really well in attack and with the stroke of Leal (5-7, 11-13). With Russell playing, Itas Trentino shows to be more efficient also with the block; thanks to the two blocks by Aaron on Sukolov indeed, Itas Trentino goes back on top to 18-18 scored by Nelli. The final rush is exciting (20-20), but also this time is Trento who gains the advantage position thanks to a stroke of a more efficient Candellaro, who concedes a series of sets to Kovacevic, who in turn seizes them in the best way bringing the score to 25-22.
In the fourth set Cucine Lube Civitanova catches up again with Juantorena and Leal (5-7) and then even better also with Sokolov (from 7-9 to 7-13). The time out of Lorenzetti is providential, because then it’s Kovacevic who reduces the gap (10-13), and then it is the turn of Juantorena (attack and then ace), who finally bridges the gap (12-17, further time requested by Trento’s coach). In the final stage the host team lead the score and protract the challenge until the tie break thanks to the success of 20-25, also thanks to Simon’s help. During the fifth set then it’s Russell who leads the team and scores a promising advantage (6-2), which is also encouraged by the excellent strokes of Candellaro. Cucine Lube Civitanova tries to keep up (7-6) with Juantorena and Simon. The two teams tie at 8, then continue playing point to point until the end (12-12), when a mistake of Kovacevic decides the final 13-15.
