Russell: “On wednesday against Latina we have the chance to keep up with the rank”

After the over 2 hours long match played on Sunday night in Civitanova Marche, Itas Trentino brought home a valuable point for the rank but most importantly recovered Aaron Russell in good shape, ready to play his part in the important matches to come.
A stomach virus forced the team staff to leave him out during the match against Vibo on Thursday, in order to preserve him for the big match in Eurosuole Forum. On 1-1 on Sunday, both the need to put some fresh energy in the game and his improving condition allowed him to return on court, where he massively contributed to the performance with 10 points scored and 64% in attack, two blocks and one ace in little more than two sets.
“I had already recovered from my physical problems before the match; as a precaution it felt right to start from the bench since I didn’t train much with the team - explained Russell - . Lorenzetti asked me anyway to be ready and so I did. I wanted to help the team bring home a good result; for most part of the game we did it, exposing their weaknesses, but in the tie break Civitanova secured the sideout phase and won the match. Congratulations to them, they served very hard and we suffered in reception”.
After having Monday completely off, Itas Trentino can only count on one training on Tuesday afternoon before the next regular season match: on November 7th at 8:30 pm at BLM Group Arena against Top Volley Latina.“The regular season gives us the chance to play one match after the other; it’s a good thing for us, like it was with Vibo after the defeat in Perugia, we’ll have a new opportunity to return to victory. We’ll play in front of our fans, we can’t miss this shot”.
