Report of the match. Trentino Diatecx starts with Giannelli as setter, Vettori opposite, Kovacevic and Russell as spikers, Lisinac and Candellaro middle-blockers and Grebennikov as libero. Asseco Resovia ‘s starting six relies on Redwitz as setter, Jarosz opposite, Buszek and Szerszen as spikers, Lemanski and Dryja middle-blockers and Perry libero. Since the first point Lorenzetti decides it’s wiser to give Russell some rest and sends Van Garderen in; the beginning is balanced, both teams leading (1-3, 9-8, 13-13), with Asseco sprinting with Szerszen and Dryja (ace) for 15-17, before Lorenzetti calls a time-out. Van Garderen finds the break for the tie at 19; both teams fight hard in the final rush but Lisinac on 23-23 and Vettori on 25-24 score two aces and win the set.
The second set also starts with a tie (6-6, 9-9) before Lisinac steps up the game (11-9); Asseco scores a counter break with Jarosz (12-13), with another tie on 17-17. This time it’s Kovacevic who digs a gap (19-17) and defends it (23-21 and 25-23) thanks also to a block by Giannelli on Szerszen.
Trentino Diatecx goes with the flow and surfs the wave of enthusiasm, trying to close the set immediately (3-1 and 6-2). Home team is forced to call a time-out and a few mistakes allow Resovia to close in (10-8), but again Kovacevic (15-10) hits harder and the rest of the set is always under control (25-20).
