The qualification for the round of sixteen of 2019 CEV Cup, which has been gained tonight, leads Trentino Volley to be one of the sixteen best teams of the competition. In the third phase of the final board (which proposes only double turns until the final match - with straight up elimination) Trentino Itas will face a German team: the Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching, that has gained the qualification on Wednesday evening against Vojvodina NS Seme Novi Sad.
The going match will be played at the BLM Group Arena between the 18th and 20th December; the return match between the 15th and 17th January 2019. In order to establish the specific date for the matches, they have to wait for the confirmation of the Societies.
As in the round of thirty-two, the team that will score more points (like in the championship of SuperLega - 3 points for the victory 3-0 and 3-1, 2 points for the victory 3-2 and 1 point for the defeat 2-3) will access the next turn. In the case of a tie, the two teams will play the golden set (until 15 points, after the second game).
The description of the opposing team
The Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching was born in 2017 from the union between two different teams: the Austrian Volleyballteam Innsbruck and the German TSV Unterhaching. Between 2009 and 2013 the TSV Unterhaching had got great results in the Bundesliga, before leaving the competition in 2014. In 2017 the two teams decided to put their energy together to create a new team that now plays the majority of the Bundesliga matches in Austria and the matches of CEV Cup in Haching (a city located in Bavaria, near Munich, with 25.000 inhabitants).
This team, which ranked third in the previous season, is led by the coach Stefan Chrtiansky sr (historical coach of Innsbruck and dad of the player who played in Trento during the season 2012/2013), and he can count on the sports trainer Martin Poeder (in Trentino Volley between 2009 and 2017). The roster at his disposal consists on the Australian opposite spiker Hodge (ex Lagonegro), four Brazilians (including Gelinski (setter), De Leon (wing spiker) and Douglas (middle-blocker)), two Austrians players (including Ringseis, the libero of the national team), one Pole (Halaba), one Russian (Klets, opposite spiker), one American (Pollock, middle-blocker, ex Roma) and just one German (Sagstetter, wing spiker).
During the previous seasons Itas Trentino had faced several times both Innsbruck and Untherhaching. The last match dates back to 19th September 2018, ended with a German victory 1-3 at the BLM Group Arena.
Traditional lineup: Gelinski (setter), Klets (opposite), De Leon-Halaba (wing spikers), Douglas-Pollock (middle-blockers), Ringseis (libero).
