The World Champions take part again in the SuperLega Credem Banca on Sunday in Ravenna

The eleventh round of regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19 will be played today and on Sunday. The world champion, Itas Trentino, will take part again in a championship game and face Consar at their home, Ravenna. The match will start at 6.00 p.m. at the Pala De André: live commentary on Radio Dolomiti and Lega Volley Channel at the link www.elevensports.it/superlega.
Here Itas Trentino After twenty-one days from the victory against Padua which allowed the team to rank second, Itas Trentino is now taking the field in a national competition, and aims to keep its pace in this regular season (seven victories out of nine up until now) and not to lose contact with Civitanova and Modena (which is meanwhile back at +3 but having played a match more).
This away game has several hidden dangers and the coach Angelo Lorenzetti is aware of this. “Our team and fans know well how strong the opponents from Ravenna are, as shown by the defeat we suffered in the previous season at the Pala De André – he explained- Even more so this away match has a number of technical and agonistic pitfalls. Consar is a motivated team and plays always superbly against the so-called strongest team, particularly careful with the side-out. After the match against Lausanne we didn’t have much time to recover but we still want to face this very important appointment with the right attitude”.
Trentino Volley will reach Ravenna by bus today in the evening after a training session with the ball at the BLM Group Arena early in the afternoon. In this sixth away game of regular season the technical staff can count on the whole roster, thirteen players, included Giannelli, Vettori and Russel who had their turn to rest during the match against Lausanne on Thursday evening.
On Saturday, Trentino Volley will play the 782nd official match and the 466th one of regular season, trying to win an away match for the 257th time. Quite a peculiar appointment for Maarten Van Garderen, which made his debut in Consar in 2015, scoring 596 point in 48 official matches.
The opponents Consar Ravenna is surprisingly but deservedly ranked fifth together with Milano with 15 points. This summer, after having won the Challenge Cup 2018 the club confirmed its ability to find new young promising players. Like, for example, the Luxemburgish outside hitter Kamil Rychlichki (already Trento’s opponent in the last Champions League as a Maaseik player), who made the difference in the first ten days of championship. Argenta had to play as an opposite hitter due to some physical issues but managed to do well as his 194 points until now show (ranked fifth blocker of the championship). With such a player on the court, the roster trained by Gianluca Graziosi has reached the playoff and has lost just one time in a home match (against Modena 3-1) but has often won in the other occasions. In this excellent beginning of championship, in the team of Ravenna, many other players have distinguished themselves like the setter Saitta, the middle hitter Verhees (one of the best blockers of SuperLega) and many young Italians the Society is launching, like the middle hitter Russo (already in the national team), the libero Goi and the spikers Raffaelli and Lavia.
Previous matches The one on Sunday will be the fifteenth confrontation between these two Societies who started facing each other regularly only starting from the 2011/12 season. The record of the previous matches favourites Itas Trentino 12-2, but Consar’s achievement are quite recent: on 25th October 2017 it won 3-0 at the Pala De André in the last match played in Ravenna and on 3rd February 2016 it won at the tie break at BLM Group Arena. Itas Trentino prevailed in all other occasions: just twice with a 3-1 victory (the latest on 7th January 2017 in Trento) but ten times thanks to a 3-0 win. Trentino volley has some roots in Ravenna: in May 2000 the President, Diego Mosna, bought the rights for the First Division from Valleverde Porto, that won a pennant and three Champions Cups in the 90’s.
Referees The match will be directed by Giuliano Venturi (from Torino, in First Division since 2007) and Marco Zavater (from Rome, in First Division since 2008). It is the first time they are directing together during the season; singularly it is the sixth time for Venturi (last time in Trento was for the defeat against Verona) and the seventh for Zavater, which met Trentino Volley on 4th January 2018 (victory against Padua in Trento).
Radio, Internet and TV The complete match will be told live by Radio Dolomiti, network partner of Trentino Volley. The connections with Ravenna will take place within “Campioni di Sport”, Radio Dolomiti’s Sunday sport show. The frequencies to listen to the regional network can be consulted on the website www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the radio update live on streaming.
