SuperLega, three points together with Perugia and Lube for the first places

Itas Trentino has achieved its first goal of the season on Sunday evening at the BLM Group Arena of Trento thanks to the three points achieved after the 3-1 win against Azimut Leo Shoes Modena. With this win, it is almost certain that Itas Trentino will be one of the first three teams in the rankings of the going round, an important result also considering the quarterfinals of Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2018, to which have access only the first eight team ranked in the regular season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2018/19.
Lorenzetti’s team is now second, just one point less than Perugia and three more than Civitanova. It has been a week since it has been sure that the straight up elimination match will be held at the BLM Group Arena on 23rd January 2019 and that this occasion, will also be a chance to assure itself a place for the Final Four of Bologna (9-10th February). The race for the Campione d’inverno, winter Champion (and for the first place in Coppa Italia rankings) will start with the last matches of the going round, all set for Sunday, 23rd December starting from 6 p.m., by that time Trento will play in Monza whereas Perugia will play at home against Milano. Itas Trentino must watch its back, because if Lube gets the same amounts of points, it will surpass our team since Lube have won more times than Trento. Itas Trentino future ranking is uncertain, it can vary between the first and the third place. If two or more teams have the same number of points, the criteria to decide the positions are the following, in order of importance: number of victories, set ratio and and lastly points ratio. The points ratio should be considered only if Itas Trentino would win in three sets against Monza and Perugia at the tiebreak against Milano: in that case the two teams would have the same amount of points (33), of wins (11) and set ratio (3). In six days we will have the actual answers, determined by the real results on the court. Before that round, Itas Trentino (that will be back training in the late morning on Tuesday after one day of break) will focus on the European championship/race in 2019 CEV Cup: on Thursday 20th December, 8.30 p.m. at the BLM Group Arena will in fact arrive the Germans of Hypo Tirol Alpenvolleys Haching for the going match of the round of sixteen (included in the subscription).
“We expected a particularly hard-fought match against Modena – admitted Davide Candellaro, among the best players in the A22 Derby on Sunday night - ; the first set, from this point of view, has been quite eloquent because both teams have often made mistakes and fixed the score showing a great desire of trying and bring the match to their side. While in the third and fourth set, we have been able to relax and to play in a definitely more efficient way, with a greater defensive intensity, essential that usually rewards those who believe the most”.
“We were a high level team even before being able to obtain good and recent results but maybe we weren’t lucky enough – added the Venetian middle blocker - ; anyway I’m still convinced that we don’t have to think ahead too much and play match after match, trying to keep this position in the ranking. On Sunday in Monza we will have to play another difficult match, on a tough field. It will be another battle”.
