On Thursday the 2019 CEV Cup going match of the round of sixteen at BLM Group Arena

It’s time for 2019 CEV Cup again for Trentino Itas: on Thursday 20th of December, at BLM Group Arena in Trento, our team will compete for the going match of the round of sixteen during the final of the tournament vs Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching. The game will start at 20.30: live on Radio Dolomiti.
HERE TRENTINO ITAS After having conquered and then confirmed the second ranking position in the Italian championship, Giannelli and his peers are getting ready for the international matches and in particular for CEV Cup, the european competition where so far Trentino Itas only participated once (in the round of thirty-two of finals), gaining two clear successes 3-0 vs the Swiss champions of Losanna. In the second double european appointment Trentino Itas will challenge one of the most prepared teams of Germany; this match vs Haching will also be the first of a particularly busy Christmas period for the team of Angelo Lorenzetti, who between Thursday 20th and the end of 2018 will play four times, if we consider also the away matches to Monza (23) and Siena (26) and the home one vs Sora (29).
“Of course we focus on one match at the time, also because in the one planned for Thursday we will have to play very cautiously – this is how the coach defines the match - . We will have the surprise of the German championship, a team that has confirmed its first position in Bundesleague beating the main opponents Berlin and Friedrichshafen. Traditionally in Germany volleyball players do really well in the break point; so we will have to train well our side-out phase and, more in general, be very careful to the important moments during the match”.
Trentino Itas will be present in this match without any particular problems of roster and will train today until this evening and on Thursday morning.
54th INTERNATIONAL MATCH AT BLM GROUP ARENA On Thursday night BLM Group Arena will host the 54th european home match in the history of Trentino Volley, the 30th ever in CEV Cup, in which so far they have won 24 times (only five defeats: two vs Ankara in 2005, one vs Moscow in 2015, one vs Fenerbahce and Tour in 2017). This time our team will compete for the 785th official match in its history and for the 155th international one (balance: 126 victories and 28 defeats).
THE OPPONENTS Trento will welcome the team that so far has been in the first position in Bundesleague. Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching is indeed the absolute first one in the German championship, carrier of eight victories in other matches and after having conceded just one point out of the 24 available to the opponents. So it’s good to say that union is strenght since this team was founded not before 2017, combining the two famous teams from different but neighbour nations: the Austrian Volleyballteam Innsbruck and the German TSV Unterhaching, that between 2009 and 2013 had achieved brilliant results in the Bundesleague, before withdrawing from the tournament in 2014. In 2017 then, the concession of a wild card for playing again in the absolute championship has convinced both clubs to unite the resources, creating one jointed team, that plays most matches of Bundesleague in Austria and those of CEV Cup instead, as it will be the case for Trentino Itas, in Haching (Bavarian city of 25000 inhabitants, a few kilometres away to the south of Munich). The opponent team, which ranked in the third position in Germany during the previous season, is coached by Stefan Chrtiansky sr (former coach of Innsbruck and father of the player who competed in Trento during the season 2012/13), who in his staff counts also on the trainer Martin Poeder (he was with Trentino Volley between 2009 and 2017). The roster is pretty much international and has the Australian opposite Hodge (former Lagonegro), four Brazilians (including the setter Gelinski, the spiker De Leon and the central Douglas), two Austrians (including the libero of the National Ringseis), one Polish (the attaker Halaba), one Russian (the opposite Klets), one from USA (the central Pollock, former Roma) and just one German (the spiker Sagstetter).
Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching will play this match after having won their last match at tiebreak on Sunday evening against Friedrichshafen (which plays in Champions League) and after having defeated Novi Sad during the previous double turn.
The roster of Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching: 1. Florian Ringseis (libero), 2. Thomas Hodges (opposite), 3. Krill Klets (opposite), 4. Matthew Pollock (middle blocker), 5. Jonas Sagstetter (spiker), 6. Danilo Gelinski (setter), 10. Hugo De Leon Guimaraes Da Silva (spiker), 11. Pedro Henrique Frances (middle blocker), 13. Pawel Halaba (spiker), 14. Douglas Duarte Souza Da Silva (middle blocker), 15. Niklas Kronthaler (spiker), 16. Daniel Koncal (setter). Coach Stefan Chrtiansky Sr.
FORMULA AND OTHER MATCHES In the 2019 CEV Cup the teams have to play six double turns - home and away games - (Round of sixty-four, Round of thirty-two - already played -, Round of sixteen, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final) and there is a straight up elimination: the team that in the two matches scores more points, awarded like during the championship: 3 points for victories 3-0 or 3-1, 2 point for the victory at tiebreak, 1 point for the defeat at tiebreak (golden set until 15 in case of tie - like in Playoffs 12 of CEV Champions League). The team that moves into the next turn will face the winning team between Amriswil e Brcko. Other round of sixteen going matches: already played on Tuesday Dukla Liberec (Cze)-Galatasaray Istanbul (Tur) 2-3; tonight: Lindaren Volley Amriswil (Sui)-Ok Mladost Brcko (Bih), Istanbul BBSK (Tur)-Olympiacos Piraeus (Gre), Viking Tif Bergen (Nor)-Neftohimic 2010 Burgas (Bul), Cv Teruel (Esp)-Lindemans Aalst (Bel), Kuzbass Kemerovo (Rus)-Indykpol Azs Olsztyn (Pol); on Thursday: Kladno Volejbal Cz (Cze)-Ford Store Levoranta Sastamala (Fin). The return matches will be played between 15th and 17th January: Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching-Trentino Itas will be played on Tuesday 15th January at 7 p.m. in Untherhaching (Germany).
PREVIOUS MATCHES The two teams had already faced several times during the previous seasons and Trento played against both Innsbruck and Untherhaching, even though they had not played any official match. The last match has been played on 19th Septermber 2018 at BLM Group Arena, ended with a German victory 1-3 because Itas could not count on 10 players that were playing in the World Cup.
