SuperLega, Itas Trentino starts the returning round with a 3-1 win against Siena

The returning round of SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19 started with a win on an away game for Itas Trentino. On 26th December, the World Champions won 3-1 at the PalaEstra in Siena, confirming their second place in the rankings of regular season and, at the same time, obtaining their seventeenth consecutive win, the ninth of the championship. Itas Trentino has not been losing since 4th November (2-3 against Civitanova Marche) and they had shown to be able to manage the physical and psychological tiredness in a period without a break also this time. The Tuscan team started well but not well enough to get the point from Itas Trentino, a crucial point since they were both placed second. After an initial difficulty in the receiving phase, Giannelli and his teammates began to play their way, doing well in the defensive and blocking phase and with some incisive serving that allowed them to win the set despite the number of mistakes made. The ones who made the difference were Vettori (14 points with 67% attack efficiency), Russell (16 points with 57% efficiency, two blocks and one ace) and Kovacevic (mvp with 15 points, one block and two aces with 52% attack efficiency). During the second set also Lisinac (83% efficiency with four blocks) and Grebennikov with his incredible defensive skills, had a remarkable performance.
