SuperLega, last match of 2018 on Saturday at BLM Group Arena

The 15th turn of regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19 will be played this weekend, the last one of 2018. Itas Trentino will close this year with the match against Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora on Saturday 29th December. At BLM Group Arena the match will start at 8.30 p.m.: live on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel (here: www.elevensports.it/superlega)
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The return round has started off on the right foot with the 3-1 in Siena, and now the World Champions are looking for another victory to conclude December positively, because it has been a month rich of successes. In order to start the 2019 in the right way, they need to win another match, which would be the 18th consecutive victory (including SuperLega, World Club Cup and CEV Cup).
We want to play well and close the year in a positive way - the coach Angelo Lorenzetti says - , but we know that the matches at the end of the year are peculiar. We have to stay focused and ready, because Sora has always got great results in the away games. Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate has an essential, calm and fair game, and we have to be able to control it.”
Itas Trentino will train today at the BLM Group Arena (video and technique) and on Saturday morning. On that occasion, Trentino Volley will play its 54th official match of 2018 (38 victories and 15 defeats), the 787th match of its history, and they are looking for the 549th victory ever (the 184th victory in regular season).
At this point it is important to point out that the match that have been played on 26th December in Siena represented the 216th match for Simone Giannelli, who became the sixth more present player in the history of Trentino Volley, outdoing Della Lunga (215); only Birarelli (345), Colaci (345), Bari (339), Kaziyski (334) and Lanza (300) have played more matches than Giannelli.
THE OPPONENTS Thanks to five victories in the going round, 14 points and their 12th position in the rank, Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora is doing the right things to be safe. They have started off the return round on the right foot, gaining 1 point in the match against Modena on the 26th December.
The protagonists of the first part of regular season have been the Serbian opposite Petkovic, with 301 points in 14 matches, and the Brazilian wing spiker Joao Rafael. Other great players are the Pole setter Kedzierski (very good in stroking too), the libero Bonami and the central couple Di Martino-Caneschi, that have done 44 winning blocks. Sora has got the best results during the away games, in Siena (3-2), Monza and Castellana (3-1).
PREVIOUS MATCHES So far Trentino Volley and Argos Volley Sora have competed against each other only five official matches, played between the regular season of SuperLega 2016/17, 2017/18 and the match of the going round of the last championship. The total result is in favour of Trentino Volley, since only three sets were conceded to the opponents: the one lost in the first previous match in Trento (16th of December 2016), the one conceded during the match played in the region Lazio, precisely in Frosinone, on the 17th of December 2017 and the one obtained in the going round on the 21th October in Veroli, where our team won 3-1 (partials of 25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19).
