Itas Trentino-Calzedonia Verona 3-0, the match report

Match report. For the match, Angelo Lorenzetti choses for Giannelli as the setter, Vettori the opposite hitter, Kovacevic and Russell as the spikers, Lisinac and Candellaro the middle hitters and Grebennikov as the libero. In Verona’s starting six Matey Kaziyski was especially awaited (this was the first match against Trento of the ex player), Grbic positioned him in area 4 together with Manavi. Spirito played as the setter, Boyer as the opposite hitter, Alletti and Solé the middle hitters and De Pandis as the libero.
The opponents started better,  they take the lead fast with Boyer and the Bulgarian (2-5); Trento doesn’t shiver too much but gains ground with Russel (6-8) and reaches the draw with Vettori’s block on Kaziyski (10-10). After Boyer’s block on Russell, the opponents seem to be able to take advantage (11-13) but Aaron and Vettori (ace) close the gap giving Kovacevic the chance to gain the advantage (16-15). Grbic asks for a time out but it is not enough, the team does not keep up and with Giannelli and Lisinac’s blocks, Itas Trentino reaches 21-17. The advantage gained allows our team to reach the end of the set without too much worry (23-19) and to close it 25-20 (Kaziyski’s mistake at the service).
The scene repeats in the second set; Verona is off to a really hot start with Boyer (0-3) but this time Trento immediately gets back to Verona (5-6) and already sets on 10-7 with an awesome Vettori from the nine meters line. Grbic stops the game, but Itas Trentino is just like a speeding train that takes every opportunity of break point (12-8, 16-9), also benefiting from many imperfections from Verona. Not even the recurring changes introduced by the guest coach can fix the situation (21-10, two consecutive aces from Giannelli); the 2-0 is accomplished already on the 25-12.
Calzedonia moves ahead in the third set with 9-11 with Boyer and with a balanced beginning of the set (6-6). Vettori sees the risk and gains points over the guest second line with his services (13-13 and then 15-13); the champions protect the advantage until the 19-17 but a mistake from Russell opens the match again (19-19, first time out of the evening for Lorenzetti). Kovacevic (with pipe and ace for 22-19) manages to give his team an advantage so that they don’t lose any other occasion and close definitively the match on 25-21 (first strike of Candellaro).
