SuperLega, away match on Sunday for the World Champions: the guide to Latina–Trento

The eighteenth day of regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19, the sixth of the return round, will be played between today and Sunday. Itas Trentino on January 27th will play at home of Top Volley Latina at Palasport of Cisterna di Latina, which has just recently been inaugurated. The start of the match is scheduled for 6 p.m.: live broadcast on RAI Sport + HD and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO The World Champions, after having immediately obtained again a home victory in the quarter-final match of Coppa Italia played on Wednesday night in Verona, are now focusing on the championship with the target of forgetting the defeat of the previous turn at BLM Group Arena and at least defending the second place in ranking.
“The match of Wednesday versus Calzedonia really tested us both from a mental and physical point of view because it was a decisive match; therefore we have to focus even more on the field of Top Volley because we don’t want to stop our run in ranking again – explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti presenting the match - . Latina is a team which has always done what it had to do up to now, winning decisive matches in order to stay in a quiet zone in ranking; it managed to do so thanks to the quality of its volleyball, in which its setter Sottile is the gravitational centre, but also thanks to the group spirit, which allowed it to solve the problem of some injuries. This won’t then be an easy match but it has to be like this, because away matches like the one of Sunday can really tell how much this championship can be exciting and unpredictable”.
Itas Trentino finished its preparation for the next match on todays morning with a two-hours ball training session at BLM Group Arena, which preceded the transfer to Lazio, which has been reach by train during the evening. All the thirteen players of Trentino Volley’s roster are available. The Club will play its 794th official match, aiming for the 554th victory, the 241st away.
OPPONENTS Top Volley Latina can now live an interesting final part of its championship with its seven points of distance from the drop zone and six from the Play Off one. On Sunday it will aim for its first seasonal victory versus a big team. The transfer from PalaBianchini to PalaSport of Cisterna, the new hall inaugurated in 2018 which can host more than 3.000 spectators, brought positive results to the team coached by Lorenzo Tubertini, which won five matches out of nine played ones in its new home. The opponents will be able to count on a new libero (the Argentinian Santucci (who replaced the injured Tosi) and on a new high-ball player like the Slovenian Ziga Stern – brother of the opposite Toncek (best scorer of the opposite team with 241 points). Among the reference points of Sottile there are Swan Ngapeth, more and more effective as spiker, and the South American Palacios, whereas the middle-blocker Gitto is among the best blockers of the championship.
PRECEDENTS Latina is the fifth most challenged team by Trentino Volley, with 37 official matches; only Modena (71), Civitanova (63), Piacenza (54) and Cuneo (47) have more. It’s a positive balance so far, with 29 wins and 9 defeats, Trento winning the last consecutive nine matches; Latina’s last victory dates back to April 13th 2014 (1-3 in PalaTrento), in the fifth place playoffs. Five times in eighteen matches Latina managed to win at home, while Trento won thirteen times, last time on February 7th 2018 in Lazio. In the first leg of regular season Lorenzetti’s team won 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19) with Lisinac MVP.
REFEREES The first referees is Gianfranco Piperata (from Bologna, in Serie A since 2012) and Ilaria Vagni (from Perugia, in Serie A since 2003, international since 2014). First match together for the two referees in the 2018/2019 SuperLega Credem Banca.
