Uros Kovacevic wins the 2018-2019 Gazzetta trophy with Wilfredo Leon

Another trophy for Uros Kovacevic during the 2018/19 season. After winning the 2018 World Cup, the 2019 CEV Cup and the award for best player of the last international event wearing the Itas Trentino shirt, the Serbian spiker also won the 2018-2019 Gazzetta Trophy, shared with the player of the Perugia team Wilfredo Leon.
The trophy, invented by the journalist Carlo Gobbi, is assigned every year since 1973 by the sport newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" to the best player of the Regular Season. A special classification is created to choose the player: it is determined by the sum of the votes assigned by the news correspondents during each game of the regular season; in each match the six best players are chosen from the two teams and points in descending order from 6 to 1 are assigned to them.
After twenty-six days Kovacevic and Leon gained the same result (122 points). The second place goes to Atanasijevic with 26 point less. The second yellow-blue players in the ranking is Russell (tenth with 73 points).
"I'm competing in the best season of my career and this trophy offers even more value to what I'm experiencing - said Kovacevic - . It’s a great honor to have won the same number of points as Leon and sharing the prize with but the Trentino Volley season is still going on and I don't want to stop right now ".
The victory of the 2019 Gazzetta Trophy is new for Uros is also for Trentino Volley; none of its players ever triumph in nineteen years. Kovacevic, who won eleven mvp nominations during the regular season, will receive the prize in the next official match that Itas Trentino will play at the BLM Group Arena.
