Champions League, Cucine Lube Civitanova win over Trentino Itas with lots of injuries

The Eurosuole Forum rejects the Trentino Itas assault also in the European field. In the rescheduled match of the first round of the Pool A of 2020 CEV Champions League, played tonight in Civitanova Marche at the home of the European and World Champions Cucine Lube, our team had to deal with a defeat, the first in 2020, leaving the way to the hosts in three sets.
The Marches' arena remains so taboo for Trentino Volley (always defeated since Cucine Lube have been playing their home games in this building), but on closer inspection today was perhaps the least suitable opportunity to defeat Cuine Lube. The absences of Kovacevic and Russell were in fact joined shortly before the match by Vettori, who was kept at precautionary rest due to a resentment accused to his knee; defections that forced Lorenzetti to propose on the field a trio of high ball players never seen before, formed by Djuric, Cebulj and Michieletto who reasonably struggled against such a compact game system as that of the hosts. Cucine Lube has always held the reins of the match, giving very little to the opponents in the break point phase thanks to large percentages in attack efficiency (50%), a compact block phase (scoring seven times) and a very incisive serve phase (5 aces, but also many easy points after serving). Djuric's performance (the only one in double digit also thanks to two winning blocks) and an excellent match for Candellaro once again (75% in the first half) were among the positive spins for Trentino squad, but given the conditions, the match immediately seemed too difficult to hope to get a positive result and not to allow the hosts to gain the lonely top of the league standings.

Below is the scoreboard of the match of the first round of the Pool A of 2020 CEV Champions League, played tonight at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova Marche.
