Lets’s start superliga 2020/2021! On sunday the first match at Padua-Itas Trentino

On Sunday 27th, Itas Trentino officially takes part in the main male volleyball Italian Championship for the 21st time, the match at the Kione arena in Padua (in the arena max 700 spectators will be allowed).
The gialloblù team starts the SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21 playing against Kioene Padova on their home field, the match defines also the first round of the regular season. Starting whistle at 6 pm: live on Radio Dolomiti and live on Lega Volley Channel all’indirizzo: www.elevensports.it.
HERE, ITAS TRENTINO Right after the conclusion of its path in Supercup, the gialloblù team had a whole week to get ready to start the Superliga, which will be held away from the BLM Group Arena, for the second year consecutive.
During last 5 days of training the team could count on Lucarelli’s availability again (he played for a while during the match in Civitanova Marche last Sunday) and Lisinac, them both are back at training with the whole team. In particular, after that the Brazilian hitter spiker fully recovered, in Padua will play for the first time as regular replacing Alessandro Michieletto, from  today absent because he’s playing with the Italian Juniores National team at the Eurpean matches of Category in Czech Republic.
“We are wound up, determined and ready to start our Championship and this first match, particularly hard – explained the trainer Angelo Lorenzetti at the presentation of the match - . Indeed, Padua is a strong opponent to defeat, as we’ve already experimented during the first matches of Italian Cup at the Kione Arena. In comparison to last years, this team has changed the roster considerably but still keeping its particular features, so it’s an aggressive team and every match will be a battle. I’m glad I can count on such a good player as Lucarelli is, since the very first match; obviously he’s not 100% but he trained well during this week and he can’t wait to be back on field”.
In Padua, Trentino Volley debuts in Championship for the 8th time on a field away (this team took part in it for 21 times). Usually the team is not so lucky away, indeed they only won 3 times: in Ravenna on 27th September 2013 and on 20th October 2019 (0-3) and in Monza on 28th October 2015 (3-1). In general Trentino Volley only won the first match 12 times on 20: in addition to the 3 victories just mentioned, the team won 9 times on the home field: season 2002/03 (3-1 against Milano), 2008/09 (victory playing 3 sets against Forlì), 2009/10 (3-1 against Latina), 2010/11 (victory 3-0 against Castellana Grotte), 2011/12 (victory 3-0 against Monza), 2013/14 (victory after 5 sets against Latina), 2014/15 (3-0 against Padova), 2016/17 (3-0 against Vibo) e 2018/19 (3-0 against Siena). In this occasion, Trentino Volley is on field playing the 848th official match and trying to win for the 591st time: till today the team won 308 matches on the home filed and 282 away.
THE DEBUT IN PADUA IS ALWAYS A SWEET MEMORY The debut in regular season against Padua is a nice habit for Trentino Volley. In the past, back to 2005/06 and 2014/5 season these two teams played together during the very first day of season, at the BLM Group Arena – at the time PalaTrento- and both times Trentino Volley won 3-0 (25th September 2005 and 19th October 2014). Moreover, Kione Arena will always be a special arena for this team, indeed almost 20 years ago Trentino Volley won for the very first time on an away field there. It was 5th January 2001 and the team- at the time Itas Diatec Trentino- led by the coach Bruno Bagnoli won 3-1 at the arena once called Pala San Lazzaro (the sets: 19-25, 31-29, 25-21, 26-24). On the bleachers was already sitting Angelo Lorenzetti.
THE OPPONENTS during the initial phase of Italian Cup, Kioene Padova has alredy won the Pool A, qualifying to the quarter-final, showing its preparation for the Championship that starts on Sunday. Despite having changed 5/7 of the line-up and the coach (instead of Baldovin, from the Serie A3 arrived Cuttini, they worked together for years), the team already is cohesive and dangerous for the opponents, above all on the home field everyone has to play hard if they want to win. Piacenza and Cisterna immediately understood it, these two teams were eliminated from the championship due to the defeats in Veneto (3-1 and 3-2); the American player Shoji is leading the team (he also played in Monza), two other great players are the Slovenian opposite Stern and the Polish hitter Wlodarczyk. To be noticed also the two at place 4, both Italian, Milan and the young Bottolo; the only two players who remained are the libero Danani and the Captain Volpato.
PREVIOUS MATCHES In Padua the teams play one against the other for the 36th time; the forecasts are particularly good for the gialloblù team, it won for 19 times, but the other team won two of the last 4 matches: at the BLM Arena, on 20th November 2019 (the sets 25-20, 20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 19-21) and the second last match in Padua (7th April, match nr 2, at the quarter final Play-off , 3-0 and the sets 25-22, 26-24, 25-22). Out of 17 matches played in Veneto, Trentino Volley only won 4 times, considering also 3-2 got on 16th February 2003, on 1st February 2004 and on 13th February 2005. The most recent victory for Trentino Volley in that Arena was on 9th February: 2-3 and the sets 25-19, 20-25, 18-25, 30-28, 18-20.
REFREES the match will be led by the Alessandro Cerra (main refree in Bologna, he works in Serie A since 2014) and Umberto Zanussi (from Treviso, he works in Serie A since 2006). The last match Trentino played guided by Cerra was just befkre the lockdown (8th March, defeated at the tie break by Civitanova Marche) while with Zanussi was the victory 3-1 on the home field, against Piacenza on 13th November 2019.
