SuperLega, on Sunday the match in Verona, Giannelli and Sperotto finally back on field

SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21, this weekend on field for Day 2 of the second round of regular season, Day 13 in general. In this occasion, Itas Trentino will play on away field against NBV Verona, on Sunday 6th December. At the AGSM Forum (once PalaOlimpia) starting whistle scheduled for 6 pm), broadcast live on RAI Sport + and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After the amazing results gained during the 3 days of Champions League, that allow Club gialloblù achieve 600 victories (out of 862 official matches), Podrascanin and his fellow-players can concentrate once again on the Championship and play away from Trento, for the first time after more than one month (last match on away field was in November against Cisterna from Latina). For match number 5 in just 8 days the two setters will be back on field: today both Giannelli and Sperotto resulted negative to Covid-19 and will play as usual, so Nimir will have the opportunity to play as opposite. The only one that will be absent will be Dick Kooy: he was diagnosed a muscular distraction to the abs, so he needs to stop playing for a while. The match will give some important points for the ranking, Trentino is only one place before Verona (10 to 9) and Verona is the last team on the ranking for the qualification for Play Off.
“It will be an important match, because both the teams need to improve their position in the ranking, and I’m very happy I can finally count on the two setters. Also because it will be very important that Giannelli and Nimir will play in their role. – said coach Angelo Lorenzetti while presenting the match - . The possibility we have to go back to our usual line-up will give us a lot of energy, and we really need it to play this particular match, not only given that Verona defeated us during the first round. The way we play, the continuity and the determination we show will be key elements, as always”.
This afternoon, the team completed the preparation at the BLM Group Arena, after a double training session: weight training in the morning and technique in the afternoon, right before leaving for Veneto. This match will be number 466 on away field, trying to win for 288th time.
THE OPPONENTS NBV Verona is waiting for the match in a particular moment of the season. Among defeats, cases of Covid-19 and matches postponed, the team with Stoytchev and Kaziyski (once in Itas, the first one as trainer and the other as player who scored most points ever) isn’t improving its place on the ranking since 25th November, after having won against Cisterna. After a 3-week-long stop in November, during the last 15 days, Verona got back on field, losing 1-3 both on its home field against Padova and in Civitanova, right a week ago. There’s a big change in comparison to the line-up of Verona as it last defeated Trento: the opposite is now the Danish Jensen Mads (instead of the French player Boyer), this new player showed a great ability and it’s well known that the team is particularly strong on its home field (where it won two other times, against Monza and Cisterna). The main player, example for the others, remains Kaziyski, best in defensive role of the match, in this season he scored 153 points and he’s 6th aceman of the tournament, he scored 18 serve-point in 9 matches.
PREVIOUS MATCHES Trentino Volley and Verona already played 39 official matches: six in Play Off (2010 and 2018), 32 in regular season and one in Italian Cup 2019. Gialloblù won 28 times, but the opponent won two out of 3 of the last matches, considering also the one of the first round (0-3 on 4th November at the BLM Group Arena, and the sets were 26-28, 23-25, 21-25). Verona also won the last two matches of the derby of the Adige, the points were 3-2: on 17th March 2018 for two of the semi-final of the Play Off and on 18th February 2019 in regular season. 11 times out of 17 Itas won on away field against Verona, last time was on 21st January 2018 (3-1 in regular season, Kovacevic scored 26 points).
REFEREES the match will be directed by Roberto Boris (from Pavia - in Serie A since 1997 and international since 2010) and Mauro Goitre (from Verona, in Serie A since 2014), for Boris this will be match number 6, for Goitre number 5 in SuperLega. Last match directed by Boris and played by Trentino Volley was the first official one of the season (on 13th September, 3-2 against Civitanova in SuperCup), while Goitre directed the one on 5th February 2020: victory on home field against Milano (3-1)
