SuperLega, on Wednesday in Ravenna the rematch of the eleventh round

Itas Trentino comes back on the field Wednesday 30 December to play against Consar at the Pala De André in Ravenna the rematch of the eleventh round of SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21, originally scheduled on 15 November. HERE ITAS TRENTINO With eight consecutive victories, unbeaten through the month of December, and fourth place in the ranking achieved thanks to 3-1 on Sunday in Modena, the gialloblù formation faces the last appointment of 2020 with the goal of continuing its quickly rhythm and conquering, if possible, important points also to the ranking of Final Eight of Italian Cup 2021. Indeed, the match counts a lot to define the ranking at the end of the first round, which determines the combinations of the quarterfinals between the eight qualified teams; Itas Trentino needs the stakes of Wednesday (just as the one of 6 January, when it will be played the rematch with Milano of the tenth turn at the BLM Group Arena) to achieve the best possible place and to play, if it’s between the top four, the match and the direct elimination at home.
“The match of PalaPanini immediately made us immerse ourselves in the away atmosphere that we will also experience in the next two matches, the ones of Wednesday in Ravenna and Sunday in Perugia – said the coach Angelo Lorenzetti - . Two very difficult games await us for different reasons, but if we want to continue our streak, we need to play with concentration and without any arrogance. We are in a good moment, but there will always be hidden dangers, moreover when you play on the field of a team like Consar that is one of the surprises of the championship and has already made life difficult for top opponents. We need to deal with fatigue as well, the reason why it will also be more important to enter on the field with the right spirit and try to offer an efficient volleyball right from the start”.
Itas Trentino will leave for Romagna in the late afternoon, after having undergone training on the eve at the BLM Group Arena. Dick Kooy will be with the team as well, who will not be used in order to allow the Dutch spiker the full recovery from the abdominal problem that made him miss the last five games.
The one of Wednesday in Ravenna will be the twenty-third official match of Trentino Volley season (the report is of sixteen victories and six losses), the 37^ of 2020, the 868^ ever and will see the gialloblù team hunting for the 290° away-success of its history. Close to a significant milestone from a statistical point of view, there is the opposite spiker Nimir Abdel-Aziz, to whom misses only three points to arrive at 400 with the gialloblù jersey; its actual average is of more than eighteen points for match.
THE OPPONENTS Consar Ravenna waits for the visit of Itas Trentino for the last appointment of 2020; last Sunday it didn’t compete (it should have faced Milano) and was able to prepare with great attention the penultimate appointment of the first round. The start of the second round confirmed the team coached by Marco Bonitta between the main surprises of the season, considering that the giallorosso team almost won against Civitanova at home, surrendered only at the tie break, won the direct match for the salvation in Cisterna in four sets, and offered moments of good volleyball in the regional derbies with Piacenza and Modena as well. The thirteen points and the tenth place occupied in the ranking are however unexpectedly the result more of the good away performance rather than that shown at Pala De Andrè, where Consar won only one time (3-0 always on Cisterna) and had two other lengths with Vibo and Civitanova. The performance rankings show off the efficiency of the team in reception (it’s the one that moves better in this fundamental, also thanks to a specialist like Kovacic – the second absolute in SuperLega by weighted average), while between the individuals, a great regular season is played by the spikers Loeppky and Recine (among the top twenty strikers of the tournament always by weighted average) and Pinal, eighth bomber and sixth aceman of the competition. The contribution offered by Mengozzi (already 27 personal blocks), who returned to Romagna just this season, was important to the centre.
THE PRECEDENTS The one of Wednesday will be the nineteenth absolute match between the two Companies, that started to face each other with continuity at the start of 2011/12 season. The report is definitely in favour of the gialloblù team for 16-2, but the only Romagna successes are quite recent: on 25 October 2017 by 3-0 at the Pala De André in the third last match played in Ravenna (the last was won by Trento by 3-0 on 20 October 2019) and on 3 February 2016 at the tie break at the BLM Group Arena. In all other cases, only successes came for Trento: by 3-1 (four times, including the most recent in Trento on 25 December 2019) and by 3-0 (eleven).
Trentino Volley has roots from Ravenna: in May 2000, President Diego Mosna bought the Serie A1 rights from Valleverde Porto, already winner of a championship and three Champions Cups in the nineties.
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Luca Saltalippi (from Torgiano – Perugia, in Serie A since 2011) and by Simone Santi (from Città di Castello, Perugia - in Serie A since 1994 and international Fivb since 2011), respectively in the sixth and eight seasonal direction in SuperLega. For both, the last precedent with Trentino Volley dates back to 7 October (loss in three sets in Civitanova Marche).
