SuperLega, twelfth night at the BLM Group Arena for the recovery of the tenth round

Itas Trentino returns to the field on Twelfth Night to play at the BLM Group Arena against Allianz Milano the recovery of the tenth day of SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21, originally scheduled for 8 November 2020. Kick-off set at 5 pm: live news on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel at www.elevensports.it (paid service).
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After the great victory (the tenth in a row) obtained on the field of the leader Perugia, the giallo-blù team is preparing to take another important exam. The home debut in 2021 offers three important points both for the current ranking (in case of victory Giannelli and his teammates would arrive in third place) and for that of the first round which draws the grid of the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup . Itas Trentino arrives there with the enthusiasm deriving from the exploits of PalaBarton but at the same time also with three games played in the last nine days.
"The euphoria for the good results we are obtaining in this period must be an important driving force to keep up with the very intense rhythms of this part of our season - said coach Angelo Lorenzetti presenting the match - . With Milan there is a lot at stake also with a view to the Italian Cup; we know this and we have tried to prepare ourselves from a mental point of view for another battle. We are happy to have lined up ten consecutive victories but at the same time we are aware that there is still a lot of work to be done in order to consistently play at good levels; we can’t to stop right now”.
Preparation for the match will be completed with today's afternoon training session at the BLM Group Arena and with the finishing session in late Wednesday morning; for the second time in a row, the giallo-blù coach will have the entire squad at his disposal, which since last Sunday can also count on Kooy's latest physical recovery. On this occasion, Trentino Volley will hunt for the 608th victory in its history (in 870 official matches), the 317th in Trento where it hasn't lost since 25 November (1-3 with Vibo), the 200th home game ever in the regular season.
ITALIAN CUP, QUARTER FINAL GRID IS ABOUT TO BE DEFINED The match will offer the chance to play at home the quarter-final of the Italian Cup scheduled for January 27th. In fact, the right will go to the four of the eight teams already qualified which will have the best classification at the end of the first round. Three of these are already sure to host the match within the friendly walls. that assigns a place in the Final Four of the Unipol Arena in Bologna (30-31 January): Civitanova, Perugia (both at 28 points at the end of the one way) and Modena (17); behind, followed by Milan and Trento (16, with one game still to be played), Monza (13, one game still to be played), Ravenna (9, one game less) and Padova (8). By virtue of this ranking, only two pairings have already been defined: Civitanova-Padova and Perugia-Ravenna, while for the remaining teams we will have to wait for the results of Wednesday and Thursday (the day in which Monza-Ravenna is scheduled) and the consequent final placements that will arise. By winning their eleventh consecutive match, Itas Trentino would rise to third place and would therefore face the sixth at the BLM Group Arena; in the event of a defeat against Allianz, it would have to settle for either fifth or sixth place, finding itself playing an away match against Modena or Milan itself.
THE OPPONENTS Last Sunday's match in Verona, lost in four sets, saw the Allianz Milano return to the field after a period of forced stop due to Covid-19 that lasted before Christmas. Even the team coached by Roberto Piazza had to deal with the pandemic, skipping three games (at home with Modena and the away matches against Vibo and Ravenna) which inevitably made them slide to eighth place. To date, it is the SuperLega team that has played the fewest matches (only thirteen) and therefore focuses heavily on the Trento match to begin its ascent. In recent weeks, the Milanese Club has had to do without the opposite spiker Patry and perhaps also for this reason has signed the former Tine Urnaut, who immediately found the right chemistry with Sbertoli as demonstrated by the 26 points scored in the Scala. Against the NBV diagonally to the setter the Japanese Ishikawa confirmed his great realization qualities (15 points with 54%, twelfth bomber of the tournament), but also the middle-blocker Piano (5 blocks) and Kozamernik did well. Milan has had a rather important results so far, winning four of the six games played in the league and obtaining a total of eleven out of the eighteen points available. Among the ranks there’s also the setter Nicola Daldello, which will be honored by Trentino Volley with a commemorative plaque for the two previous seasons played as Giannelli's deputy.
BACKGROUND On 6 January will be written the fourteenth chapter of the confrontation between Trentino Volley and Powervolley Milano, a company born only in 2013, in its sixth consecutive season in the Italian top league. The most recent home match was played on 5 February: 3-1 for Itas Trentino (partials: 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22) with Kovacevic MVP. Three comparisons already in the archive during the calendar year, also taking into account the 3-0 imposed by the giallo-blù team on January 23 at PalaLido in the quarter-final of the Italian Cup (partials: 23-25, 19-25, 19-25) and on 3-1 (26-28, 26-24, 25-17, 25-15) carried out in the joint training session on 28 August in Trento. In its previous fourteen seasons of the top serie, Trentino Volley had already faced two other different Milanese teams: Asystel, in six circumstances, between 2000 and 2003 and Sparkling, on two occasions, between 2007 and 2008.
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by the Turin duo composed of Giuliano Venturi (in the top serie since 2007) and Mauro Goitre (in the top serie since 2014), respectively in the fifth and seventh game of the season in the SuperLeague.
