Statistics, on Saturday in Bologna, Simone Giannelli’s 300th match with Trentino Volley

The 2021 Del Monte® Coppa Italia semi-final, to be played on Saturday 30 January at 6 pm in Bologna, will be a particularly significant match for Simone Giannelli. On the occasion of the match against Perugia that will assign a place in the first Final of 2021, the South Tyrolean setter will write another page of his splendid history with Trentino Volley, which began in September 2010 with his arrival in the Youth Sector and dotted with many important successes (a Club World Cup, a CEV Cup, two Scudetto, as well as six Italian youth championships).
At the Unipol Arena the setter from Bolzano will in fact collect his 300th appearance in official matches with the giallo-blù jersey. A milestone of absolute prestige: Simone is in fact the sixth player to reach this quota, after Birarelli and Colaci (345 for both), Bari (339), Kaziyski (334) and Lanza (300) and is the youngest to do so, being only twenty-four. Giannelli played with the captain's armband more than a third of the matches (114) experienced in varsity (ahead of him only Kaziyski, which played this role 204 times, and Lanza with 150). The statistical detail of his total appearances shows one in the 2013/14 season, 40 in 2014/15, 48 in 2015/16, 56 in 2016/17, 48 in 2017/18, 50 in 2018/19, 30 in 2019/20, 26 in the current one.
His giallo-blù career is already characterized by several company records; Giannelli is still the youngest player to have taken the field with the Trentino Volley shirt (he collected his first appearance on 27 October 2013, in the 3-1 win in Ravenna) and to have dressed the captain's armband and finally, he is the most productive setter in twenty years of activity of the giallo-blù Club (he counts 1,041 points and occupies the sixteenth place in the “all time” ranking of strikers).
“We are in good shape now and that has brought us back very high in the SuperLega standings but in the Italian Cup everything goes to zero - Simone presented his 300th match with Trentino Volley - . All the more reason against Perugia we will have to enter the field humble, determined, because we will find ourselves against a great team.
