Champions League, Trentino Itas closes pool e undefeated in Germany

Mission accomplished for Trentino Itas in Germany. After the exciting victory of Tuesday evening against Novosibirsk, this evening the gialloblù formation has won again, imposing with some more difficulties by 3-1 on Karlovarsko in the last match to be played in Friedrichshafen. The success against the Czechs could seem irrelevant at the eve, but instead it will have its specific importance in the draw of the quarterfinals of 2021 CEV Champions League on 12 February, in which Trentino Volley will present itself with a ranking of only victories (six) and seventeen total points out of the eighteen available; a ranking that will allow Trentino Volley to be between the four best teams in the Luxembourg urn.
To maintain the seasonal invincibility in the competition (ninth consecutive achievement, taking into account also the four victories in the two preliminary rounds), Lorenzetti’s team needed four sets, in which, after some inaccuracies in the first two periods (the more balanced and won one on each side in the sprint), the better quality of the Italian team has shown. Nimir Abdel-Aziz, best scorer with 20 points, 50% in attack, two aces, and a block, Ricardo Lucarelli (13 with 60% in attack, and a block), but especially Srecko Lisinac, who did a great performance in the first half (91%) and at blocking (3), and, for this, he was awarded the title of MVP of the match, were able to fight off the attack of the Czechs, and to definitively direct the points at stake towards the Trentino side.
Here is the report of the fifth match of Pool E of Main Phase of 2021 CEV Champions League, played this evening at the Zeppelin CAT Halle A1 in Friedrichshafen.
