In the Champions League semifinal for the sixth time, the ninth in the European Cups

Qualification for the 2021 CEV Champions League semi-final has deep roots; to get there, Trentino Itas started from the preliminary rounds, racking up eleven victories in as many games played. The result achieved this evening in the match against Berlin has once again opened the doors of the semifinal of CEV Champions League to Trentino Volley, which therefore returns to the four best teams in Europe five years after the last time. It was March 22, 2016 and the victory obtained at the tie break at Belgorod allowed the club of via Trener to earn the pass for the Final Four in Krakow, which ended in second place behind Zenit Kazan (who in the final on April 17 imposed only 15-13 at the tie break). Since then, the Trentino team has taken part in the maximum continental trophy in three other circumstances, without being able to achieve this result. The one that will open on March 17th at home against Perugia will be the sixth Champions League semi-final in the history of Trentino Volley, in a total of ten participations in the tournament. The previous appearances in the penultimate act of the tournament are related to the 2009 edition (then won in Prague), 2010 (then won in Lodz), 2011 (then won in Bolzano), 2012 (third place in Lodz) and 2015. In general, for Trentino Volley the one detached tonight is participation number nine in a final of a European cup, since it also took part in the 2015 editions (then lost in the Final with Moscow), 2017 (then lost in the Final with Tours) and 2019 (later won with Galatasaray) of the CEV Cup.
