Sir Sicoma Monini-Trentino Itas 3-2, the match report

The match report. Lorenzetti confirms the team already seen on field six days ago at the BLM Group Arena in the first round; Trentino Itas starts the match with Giannelli as setter, Nimir Abdel-Aziz as opposite spiker, Lucarelli and Michieletto as spikers, Lisinac and Podrascanin as middle blockers, Rossini libero. Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia responds with Travica as setter, Ter Horst as opposite spiker, Leon and Plotnyskyi as spikers, Ricci and Solé as middle blocker, Colaci libero. The gialloblù start is promising; two blocks (of Michieletto on Ter Horst and Lisinac on Ricci) offer an opening (3-1), but Perugia quickly closes the gap with Solé (6-6). Trento scores again with another two blocks of the Serbian middle blocker (12-10), but also in this case the hosts close the gap with Plotnytskyi (13-13) and then score with the services of its left-handed spiker (14-18). Trentino Itas has still energies to try to invert the tendency again and with Nimir goes to minus one (20-21). In the final, the block of Solé on Lisinac widens again the gap (20-23), which Sir Sicoma protects until the end with two change balls (22-25).
The second set is balanced; until 8-8 there are a few change balls, then the Umbrians speed up with Leon and a mistake of Lisinac (8-10, time out of Lisinac). At the restart, the situation worsens, because the aces of Leon (on Michieletto) and Ricci (on Rossini) allow Perugia to go to +4 (11-15). It’s a new powerful rotation of Plotnytskyi (13-20) to end the set, which the gialloblù team surrenders at 17-25.
In the third set, Trentino Itas tries to react, thanks to the block of Podrascanin on Ter Horst (4-2) and the ace of Lucarelli (7-6). Sir Sicoma Monini responds with Leon (10-10) and then with Ricci who scores two blocks, forcing Lorenzetti to call a time out on 10-12. At the restart, Solé continues to assert his authority (12-15); Trento ties with Nimir and Lisinac (18-18), taking the match to the sprint that is of great intensity. Nimir makes his teammates go to +2 and thanks to an ace on Colaci (22-20), Ricci immediately ties with another block (22-22); the opposite spiker of Trento scores again (24-22) and Podrascanin scores the 25-23 that takes the match at the fourth set (1-2).
Galvanized by the victory of the previous set, Trentino Itas starts great in the fourth set (10-7 and then 12-7), thanks to the efficiency at the net of Nimir and the mistakes of Muzaj, on the field since the beginning by Vital Heynen. The gialloblù team continues great with enthusiasm (17-10), also because Perugia seems to be always more tired. The Umbrian formation reacts until 18-15, then leaves rooms to the gialloblù team, which doesn’t gran anything and closes the set on 25-17 with an attack of Lisinac. The qualification is secured.
In the fifth set, Lorenzetti leaves room on the bench, changing his team by five sevenths. Perugia starts great and wins already with 6-15, but in the end Trentino Itas is the only one that celebrates.
