SuperLega, on Sunday in Piacenza for the 23rd round

SuperLega Credem Banca on court this weekend for the 23rd round of the 2021/22 regular season. Itas Trentino will be the protagonist of one of the most awaited matches, facing Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza on Sunday, February 27th. Kick-off at PalaBanca set for 6pm; live on RAI Sport +, Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The yellow-blue team is back on court four days after their 3-1 victory in Padova in the second replay of the 17th match. Compared to the match at the Kioene Arena, coach Angelo Lorenzetti will be back with Lavia and Podrascanin, who have overcome their physical problems. Two more important pieces to exploit in the final rush of the regular season to try to keep the third place in the rankings.
"The recovery of two important players like Lavia and Podrascanin is certainly good news, also from a moral point of view, in view of this away match, historically one of the most demanding of our regular season - said coach Angelo Lorenzetti - . We know well what Piacenza's qualities are and how they have always been able to express themselves at their best in front of their public. It certainly didn't qualify for the Italian Cup Final Four by chance, and it was only on Wednesday night in Perugia that it sold its skin very dearly. We want to be ready for a real battle, but I'm sure that my team knows perfectly what awaits us and will face the commitment with the right mentality".
In Piacenza, where they will arrive in the evening without Albergati after the afternoon training at the BLM Group Arena, Itas Trentino will play its 34th game of the season, its 20th away game, looking for the 646th victory in its history (in 925 matches).
THE OPPONENTS Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza awaits the visit of Itas Trentino with the need to get back to winning ways (missing since last February 16th, 3-0 home victory over Padova) in a comeback season that so far has seen them win in two of the eight games played. The team of the former Bernardi, Russell and Antonov is currently in seventh place with three points but also two games less played than the one in front of it (Monza); for this reason it will try to give its best to climb the ranking and overtake the Brianzoli. At PalaBanca, moreover, the "biancorossi" have always offered their best version, collecting twenty-one of the twenty-eight points so far obtained for the ranking. On Wednesday evening, in the match lost to Perugia (who will face Bologna in a week's time in the Coppa Italia semi-final), the team from Emilia put the leaders to the test, coming close to winning the tie-break, even without the help of the Turkish Lagumdzija (the team's top scorer in the season with 282 points in 18 games). Should he still not be in the match, the Trentino coach could once again rely on the Slovenian Stern or play the card of the three hitters on court at the same time (Recine-Russell-Rossard), as already happened in the home match against Padova.
PREVIOUS MATCHES The match against Piacenza has become over time a great classic of Italian men's volleyball, not only for the many matches played, which place the team from the city of Emilia as the third most frequently faced opponent by Trentino Volley (61, ahead of only Civitanova with 84 and Modena with 78). In fact, the challenge has featured as many as three Scudetto finals (2008, 2009 and 2013) and is back on the map in the Italian top league in the 2019/20 season after just one season of absence: the 2018/19 season, in which the Emilian city had to deal with a restart from the A2 Series. The balance is clearly in favour of Trentino Volley 43-18, especially thanks to twenty-seven victories in the thirty-one most recent direct encounters. Piacenza's last home victory dates back to November 17th 2016; after that 3-1 in the regular season, only the yellow-blue team has won at PalaBanca (five, the last of which on March 14th 2021 in game 2 of the Play Off Scudetto quarter-finals). Trentino Volley has often won in Piacenza, putting together sixteen victories out of twenty-eight matches played overall. The first match of this regular season was also won by Itas Trentino: on November 18th, 2021, 3-1 victory at the BLM Group Arena (25-15, 21-25, 25-21, 25-23) with Sbertoli as mvp.
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Dominga Lot (from Santa Lucia di Piave - Treviso, tenured since 2010 and international since 2017) and Gianluca Cappello (from Sortino - Sora, in the top flight since 2004), respectively in their 12th and 11th match in SuperLega 2021/22. The last previous match with Trentino Volley for Lot dates back to December 26th 2021 (tie break defeat in Verona), while for Cappello it is referred to October 16th 2021 (3-1 win in Vibo).
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET The challenge will be a global media event, enjoying simultaneous live coverage on TV, radio and internet. On the small screen it will be broadcasted by RAI Sport +, channel present on the digital terrestrial platform (number 57 in HD, 58 in sd), with commentary by Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta.
As always, there will be live commentary on Radio Dolomiti, Trentino Volley's media partner. The frequencies to listen to the regional network can be consulted on the website www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the live commentary in streaming.
Also confirmed is the live video streaming on the OTT platform "Volleyball World TV"; the service is subject to payment. For more information on how to use the service, see www.welcome.volleyballworld.tv/faq-it.
A summary of the match will also be broadcast on TV on Monday 28th February at 21.45 on RTTR - Trentino Volley's partner TV.
