Sir Sicoma-Trentino Itas 2-3, the match report

Match report. The yellow-blue line-up that Angelo Lorenzetti chose for this important match isn’t different from the one of four days ago at BLM Group Arena against Piacenza in match 1 of quarter finals of Play Off: Sbertoli as seter, Pinali as opposite-spiker, Kaziyski and Michieletto in position 4, Lisinca and Podrascanin as opposite spikers, Zenger libero. Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia answers back with Giannelli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite-spiker, Leon and Anderson as hitter-spikers, Mengozzi and Solé as middle-blockers, Colaci libero. The start is really balanced, with Trento that keep good the court up to 10-10, after the advantage 6-4 thanks to Pinali and Kaziyski’aces. Two blocks of Leon on Kaziyski put the locals on +3 (10-13); the time-out of Lorenzetti was providential, because Michieletto and Lisinac reach the tie at the restart (14-14). One ace of Alessandro and one point of Lavia, just entered in the field, guarantee a new advantage of the guests (20-18), then Daniele widens the gap (22-19). In the end of the set the Block Devils gets back with two aces of Rychlicki (22-22); the yellow-blue don’t give up and find the sprint that is worth the victory of the first set with the block of Podrascanin on Anderson for 25-23.
Perugia tries to react in the first serves of the second set (7-8), using Anderson in attack, but Trentino Itas doesn’t give up until 10-10, before ceding under the hits of Rychlicki, who starts to make the difference again at serve and in attack (12-15 and 15-20). Lorenzetti’s team suffers but doesn’t give up and continues to fight (17-21). At the end loses points again (19-25), also because Leon starts frequently to score.
The yellow-blue team start with a sprint in the third set (6-3), thanks to a wonderful rotation at serve of Kaziyski, but the Umbrians get back quickly and speed up at 9-10, when Lorenzetti stops the game. At the restart, Sir Sicoma Monini speeds up again (13-15) with Rychlicki; this time is not the decisive point because Trento gets back up to 17-17 and takes the advantage with Michieletto (19-18). Grbic calls the time out too: its team reacts well, using an error of Kaziyski (19-21) but then cedes as it did in the first set at 25-23 thanks to an amazing ace of Michieletto, who scores for the tie with a block and then attacks in pipe and blocks Leon for 25-23 and wins 2-1 for the host for in the total of the sets.
On the wave of enthusiasm of the outside point gained, Trentino Itas starts fast also in the fourth set (5-2), but Sir Sicoma Monini doesn’t give up and takes advantage of all the physique of Leon before getting even at ten and the speeds up at 12-13 with a double Cuban ace. The yellow-blue team doesn’t get intimidated and gets right back on the track with Lisinac and Kaziyski (15-15), speeding up at 21-19, without keeping the minimum advantage also because the locals get excited at block and move on to 23-24. Perugia has to wait the sixth set ball to hit on 2-2 (from 24—24 to 28-30) in an increasingly extraordinary competition. Leon ends the set at tie break with an ace on Kaziyski. In the fifth set, the hosts get the most from the blocks (from 3-3 to 7-5) and then reach out the +3 (12-9) with a block of Podrascanin; it’s the decisive point, because then Sir Sicoma isn’t able to move closer anymore. The final point arrives with a serve error of Plotnytskyi (15-12).
