The Del Monte Supercoppa, bronze medal for an experimental Itas Trentino

The race in Del Monte® Supercoppa 2022 ended on the lowest step of the podium for Itas Trentino. After the five sets played Monday night in the semifinals with Perugia; in the early afternoon, the yellow-blue lineup immediately found the taste of victory again, overcoming Valsa Group Modena 3-1 in the final for third place. The remake of the match played only six days earlier in SuperLega was, however, very different from the one staged at PalaPanini; in fact, both coaches carried out a large turnover, letting the court to those who until now had had less opportunity to play. On the Trentino side, Angelo Lorenzetti launched in the starting six D'Heer, Cavuto, Nelli, Pace and Džavoronok with positive replies from everyone, as well shown by the 25 points of the Tuscan opposite player (mvp of the match with 57% in attack, 2 blocks and three ace), 34 winning balls by the duo in position 4 and the good things shown by both the Belgian middle-blocker and the Apulian libero throughout the match. After a first set that was literally dominated, the contest with Modena became tight, as can be seen from the scores of the middle partials. Itas Trentino should be credited with not being discouraged after losing the second set in a sprint 23-25, making up for it with interest in the third, won the set beyond the normal score, and then also in the fourth, dominated from the first to the last action of play.
