SuperLega, new away match in Monza on Sunday evening

The sixth match day of the SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23 regular season will be played this weekend. After the away match in Sardinia early this week, Itas Trentino is getting ready to another one, this time in Monza to play against Vero Volley the postponement scheduled for Sunday November 6th at the Arena at 8.30 p.m. Radio Dolomiti live and streaming video on OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO. In Brianza the yellow-blue line-up will be competing for the third consecutive victory of the championship, a result that might confirm the team at the top of the rankings and make it gain some important points than other opponents, right like the host team (away from Trento of just three points, but with a game less). The nine sets played between Monday and Tuesday in Cagliari, gave further game rhythm to almost every shortlist’s member, in view of a central and final part of November, which will be filled with events, taking also into consideration that next week the 2023 CEV Champions League will start.
“After the Supercoppa Final Four, we are jumping again into the championship atmosphere with an extremely hard away match and in which we have always had to fight hard to score some points – the coach Angelo Lorenzetti explained as he presented the event - . Besides, Monza has a background of good performances against two big teams like Civitanova and Piacenza, and this might have further stimulated the team’s spirit to try to confirm it against us as well. The matches played in Cagliari allowed us to fully recover Sbertoli and to improve our game chemistry; I am confident about Sunday’s match, as long as the team manages to constantly be on the ball and to not distract itself in the match’s hard moments, which will inevitably be there, as it is difficult to win against any opponent in this Superlega, especially during an away match”.
Trentino Volley will arrive in Monza with the whole shortlist tonight, after the eve-training session at the BLM Group Arena. The competition against Vero Volley will be the 952nd official match of Trener Street Club’s history, the ninth of the season in which the yellow-blue team will seek the 316th away victory, the 391st of the regular season. This event will be significant especially for Donovan Džavoronok, who will play as a former player in Monza, where he spent the previous six seasons playing 203 matches in the Vero Volley jersey.
THE OPPONENTS Started on the sly (only one point in the first three match days) also due to the unavailability of the new setter, the Brazilian Cachopa (injured in his left knee during the pre-season four-way competition in Biella); in the last few weeks, the Vero Volley Monza has found points and continuity of able to project it immediately to the play-off. Civitanova’s major home victory (3-0) and the following away win in Piacenza (1-3) have immediately raised the quotations of a team that, with the arrival of the German former Perugia and Padua director Zimmerman, has been able to perfectly stop up the problems experienced by the absence of the Brazilian setter and to find a new team balance. A good part of the credits of this immediate restart of the Brianza’s team must also be given to the performance guaranteed by the opposite-player Grozer and by the good performance, not only in attack, of the duo Maar-Davyskiba in position 4. In the middle, the former Trentino Volley player Galassi (best middle blocker in the World Championship, recently won by Italy) is essential, while for the other position Beretta and Di Martino have so far often exchanged.
BACKGROUND The two clubs already have faced each other twenty-two times, with the tally clearly in favour of the yellow-blue team for 20-2. The only Monza’s wins, however, refer to two 3-2 wins obtained exactly at the Brianza facility; on March 4th, 2018 and on October 25th, 2020, in what was the penultimate away match played by Trentino Volley. The last one, instead, is reported on January, 30th during the 2022 calendar year (3-2 success in the name of Kaziyski). The match that so far has reserved more emotions, however, is dated on December 23rd, 2018, the fourth-last previous match between the two teams in Lombardy: tie-break success for the yellow-blue team after 165’ minutes of play in what is still now the longest match in both club’s history. In Brianza we see fives other Trentino’s wins, four of which reached in just three sets (the last one on January 16th, 2020)
THE REFEREES The match will be managed by Roberto Boris (from Vigevano, in Serie A since 1997 and international category since 2010) and by Gianluca Cappello (from Sortino - Siracusa, in the highest category since 2004), both at their third seasonal match of the SuperLega. The most recent meeting with Trentino Volley for Boris is reported on April 24th, 2022 (home game lost for 1-3 with Civitanova, game 4 of the playoff semifinals), while for Cappello the most recent match dates back on February 27th, away win with Piacenza in four sets.
