Kaziyski to "RTTR Volley": "2023, we will work to chase other great results"

Itas Trentino captain Matey Kaziyski was the main guest of the first episode of the year 2023  of "RTTR Volley", a weekly magazine dedicated by the media partner to Trentino Volley. Here are some of the most interesting excerpts from the interview hosted by Sara Ravanelli.

COPPA ITALIA. "Although we didn't play our best game, the first set lost sharply proves it, we managed to achieve our goal of qualifying for the Final Four in Rome and we are obviously happy because it wasn't easy to make a come back as we were 0-1 and with the actual risk of losing the second set as well. We were capable of playing two such important games within three days, keeping in mind that only on Monday we had faced Verona. The unpredicted results of the other quarterfinals confirmed how balanced this league is. We need to be careful on any occasion, because a misstep is always around the corner."

BREAK. "At the turn of the New Year we had a few days of pause, which was very useful to catch our breath, but also to prepare ourselves mentally at best for the tour de force that awaits us starting on January 8th, when we will return to playing every three days and almost always away games."

2022. "The year which has gone by has been wonderful mainly because we have regained contact with the public and the possibility of having full arenas, as happened for example, during the match against Verona, last December 26th at the BLM Group Arena. And there is a clear difference between having the fans supporting you and not having them; we need this "social contact," before, after and during the game, to give the best of ourselves."

OPPOSITE PLAYER. "To change roles is not easy, but playing in position 1 and position 2 is fun, especially when you can guarantee the team an average good contribution. Indeed, being the opposite gives satisfaction especially when you put the ball on the ground with regularity, and this is not always the case; even more so I have to thank my teammates for the support they give me every time."

THE GROUP. "With most of my teammates there is a considerable age difference; with the younger ones I therefore feel almost like an uncle, while with the few who are a bit older I feel almost like a brother. However, I feel this only when we are outside the gym, because on the court we are all on the same level."

PIACENZA. "I cannot explain why, but my experience tells me that any team that changes the coach plays the first successive games better and more excited. I imagine it could be the same on Sunday for Piacenza at the BLM Group Arena; regardless of who will be on  the court, I am convinced that the guests will play a very combative game and we must be ready for such a challenge."

GOALS. "We have never chosen one competition over the others and we will not do so this time either; we want to finish as high as possible in any tournament and we will give our best even though we know that against a team such Perugia it will not be easy to achieve something. We are working to be able to beat them."
