Training, four tough sets against Innsbruck in Wednesday test

The mid-week joint training with Innsbruck, held Wednesday afternoon at Trento's ilT quotidiano Arena, got Itas Trentino closer to its SuperLega debut and allowed the team to test the whole roster available right now. Regardless of the result (an all too severe 1-3 loss) coach Fabio Soli saw encouraging progress for his team both in the game and in the physical and technical condition of each player. With few players available (six athletes busy with the National Team, Cavuto still recovering, and also Laurenzano, who was kept at rest due to flu symptoms suffered right before the game), the Italian Champion lineup nevertheless displayed a well-rounded game, made of great intensity between wall and defence. The Gialloblù fought tooth and nail against the Tyrolean team, which already started its competitive season a few weeks ago and has therefore a more fluid game. The test match was balanced: the teams went head-to-head in exciting fashion, especially in the first two sets and in the fourth one. Each set was won by the tiniest of margins: the Austrians won the first and the last, Trento won the second, which ended 38-36 thanks to Rychlicki and Magalini. The two high ball players scored 23 and 22 times respectively, with attack percentages of 51% and 50%. Nelli shined in the second half of the game (10 points with 60%), while Pace and Aquarone throughout the match confirmed themselves as reliable pawns for the coach. At the end, the coaches had one more set played, which also ended in favor of Hypo Tirol at the sprint (23-25).
"It was an opponent even stronger than the one we faced last week and this match allowed us to test how we play under stress," explained Fabio Soli at the end of the test match. “At times we came up with solutions for the problems that Innsbruck gave us and I think this is absolutely positive. We now understand better where we have to work; it is the break phase that we need to improve the most and especially the fundamental of the serve, where we must have more courage if we want to take away the automatic ball change from the opponents".
Next Gialloblù test match on Saturday, October 7, again at home: a joint training session with Prata di Pordenone (A2 Series) at 5:30 p.m.
