Training, two hours of fruitful practice with Prata: Friulians win in fifth set

Another 120 minutes of tough, high-level contention; just three days after 110 minutes against Innsbruck. Saturday afternoon, Itas Trentino began the final part of its seventh week of training with another joint practice at the ilT quotidiano Arena. After an international challenge with Hypo Tirol, Prata of Pordenone (Serie A2) tested yesterday the condition of the Gialloblù team, in what was the penultimate reduced-rank friendly match of the pre-season. Even with many key-players missing in the Italian champion team (six national players plus Cavuto, while Laurenzano returned), the Friulian team only won in the tie break (which was played until the 25th point, regardless of the gap between the two teams), after going down 2-1. In the fourth set, probably to avoid stressing too much the muscles of Rychlicki, Berger and Laurenzano, coach Fabio Soli called many substitutions, which left more room for the opponents to come back and win 22-25 in the fifth set. Until then, however, Trento’s coach had been very satisfied with his team’s showing: precise at serves (10 aces in the first three partials), ready with the blocks and strong in all the fundamentals, including attack. Brilliant, other than Rychlicki as usual (19 points with 57% and an impressive 7 aces), were Acquarone's direction and Magalini's punctuality at the net (12 winning balls with 47% at the net, one block and one ace). In the second part of the test match, Itas Trentino’s youngsters (who will make their season debut today in the “Serie B” championship wearing the jersey of UniTrento Volley, coincidentally in the province of Pordenone) still fought tooth and nail: led by an inspired Nelli (20 points with 47%, three blocks and two aces) it lost only at the advantages in the fourth set and went 17-15 in the next one, before giving way to the opponents.
"I'm happy with how the team approached the match," explained Fabio Soli at the end of the test match, “they had a much better mentality, even just compared to their previous match. Serves were definitely more effective, which shows how much we are working on this fundamental. The youngsters were also very consistent, showing how useful this period with the main team has been, both for their older teammates and for them to grow. The signals and indications received today were important."
Next Gialloblù test match will be on Saturday, Oct. 14, again at ilT quotidiano Arena: at 3:30 p.m. it’s going to be a rematch with Modena (faced last Sept. 23 in Schio).
