Del Monte® Supercoppa 2023, Itas Trentino starts well then suffers Perugia's comeback

The chance to play the third "Italian" final of the 2023 calendar year for Itas Trentino vanished in the fourth set of today's match in Biella. After having played the Coppa Italia final in February in Rome and the Play Off Scudetto final in May, the Italian champions failed to make it three this evening, dropping the Del Monte® Supercoppa semifinal 1-3 against trophy holders Perugia.
It will be the Umbrians who will play the match that on Wednesday evening will award the first trophy of the 2023/24 season in Piemonte. The first setback for the Yellow-blue, however, came at the end of a match that in the first three sets had provided balance and spectacle even in the half-court of Fabio Soli's team. Once again rocketing out of the starting blocks, as it had already happened in the previous SuperLega matches in Cisterna and against Taranto, Itas Trentino tried to give continuity to its action also in the second and third sets, after having surprised the opponents in the first one mainly thanks to the blocks and the excellent attack percentages. To  get  back  on  track,  Sir  Susa  Vim  drew  on  all  their  qualities  on  the  bench, managing to take a 2-1 lead in their favour, but risking being caught up in the second period (also led 16-10) and then winning the hard-fought third set. In the fourth set, with the energy tank almost empty, Podrascanin and his team-mates were unable to do anything, but the loss did not cancel out the good things shown by the pair of post 3s (five blocks for the captain, 80% at the net and two blocks for Kozamernik) and the ability to hang on to the game highlighted in the middle, also thanks to the 26 total points of the pair of post 4s Michieletto-Lavia and the 16 personal points of Rychlicki, once again the best scorer of his team.

Below  is  the  scoreboard  of  the  first  semi-final  of  Del  Monte®    Supercoppa  2023,  played  this evening at the Biella Forum in Biella.
