Rana Verona-Itas Trentino 0-3, the match report

Match report of the 45th Adige derby. Itas Trentino presents a standard lineup at the AGSM Aim Forum in Verona; the starting sextet chosen by Soli includes Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Michieletto and Lavia as spikers, Kozamernik and Podrascanin as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. Meanwhile, Verona’s team consists of Spirito as setter, Amin as opposite, Džavoronok in area 4, Mosca and Grozdanov as middle blockers, D'Amico as libero. The match gets immediately heated, as the two teams take turns leading the score (0-2, 5-5 and 9-8); with their block, the guests start taking control (10-8, Podrascanin) and then, thanks to Lavia, are able to rebuild the +2 (17-15), after the hosts had tied the score at 11. In the second half, Rychlicki and Lavia (scoring with a block on Grozdanov) made the Champions speed up (21-17); then, taken by the enthusiasm, Trento flew to the outside lead (25-18) thanks to two points scored by Kozamernik.
Still galvanized, Itas Trentino started very strong in the second set as well, getting immediately ahead (4-2 and 6-4) thanks to the usual block. Verona now has Jovovic at the helm and Cortesia as middle blocker (replacing Grozdanov) and, thanks to Amin, evens the score at 11; the Italian champions rely on Michieletto to recreate the advantage (17-17 to 20-17). Stoytchev interrupts the game, but on resumption Kozamernik's serves hurt compatriot Mozic's reception multiple times: the 2-0 lead then comes as early as 25-17, with the sharpness at the net by Podrascanin (block and counterattack) and Lavia's pipe.
In the third set, Rana Verona tried to fight back, pushed forward by Mozic himself (2-4 and 4-7); Itas Trentino remained compact and slowly rebuilt its score, until reaching the point of overtaking thanks to a great defence (13-12). With Sbertoli at the serve (four straight aces in his epic rotation), the Gialloblùs took over (16-12 and 19-12), quickly closing the score and taking home the three points in match number one thousand in their history.
