SuperLega, victory and top of the standings! Itas Trentino secures 3-1 win against Perugia

The return to the ilT quotidiano Arena (packed with spectators for the occasion) after three weeks of absence went great for Itas Trentino men's team. Sunday afternoon, in front of their warm and enthusiastic audience, the Italian Champions secured the top clash of the tenth round of SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24, stopping the league leaders Sir Susa Vim Perugia in an exciting match that returned the top spot to the yellow-blue team.
An early Christmas gift to the fans, who saw their favourites finally triumph against the Umbrians (fresh off their second consecutive world title), interrupting a streak of six consecutive defeats in direct confrontations. The full points were secured thanks to a performance in which Soli's team, as usual, offered their best in the first set (the only one closed with a lead of more than two points), and struggled in the following sets, especially in the second (won despite the opponent registering an 84% attack) and in the fourth, obtained with a partial score of 15-8 when they found themselves trailing 10-15. When everything seemed to suggest a tie-break (which would have allowed Sir Susa Vim to stay at the top regardless of the result), the Italian champions changed gears in serve, defence, and counterattack, closing the contest at 3-1. The great performance of the high ball trio was decisive: 18 points for Michieletto (with 62% success at the net, four aces, and one block: MVP), 21 for former Perugia player Rychlicki (with 53%, two blocks, and three service points), and 17 for Lavia, who was decisive in the final moments of the first and second sets.
