SuperLega, 3-0 home win over Milan in midweek insurance derby

The week leading up to the Final Four of Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2024, scheduled from Saturday in Bologna, opens with a "reassuring" home success for Itas Trentino men's team. In fact, this evening the Italian champions scored their fifteenth victory in sixteen regular season SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 matches, overcoming Allianz Milano in just three sets at the T Quotidiano Arena in Trento.
The three points won in the so-called derby of the policies are the best possible calling card in view of the weekend's appointment in Emilia, because they arrived at the end of a match in which Fabio Soli's team was able to constantly keep the reins of the game in their hands, thanks to very effective and decisive starts to each set. The block in the first set (scored 5 times), the attack in the second (58% of the team), and the serve in the third (4 aces) were always able to put the match on the desired tracks by the tricolours, with Milan trying to respond blow by blow only in the third set, but it was not enough because the various Michieletto (16 points with two blocks, two aces and 50% at the net), Rychlicki (mvp with 12 hits) and Lavia laid down the law, never really allowing the guests to hope to prolong their match.
Beyond the logic strictly related to the sporting aspect, today's match was significant for the long-awaited return to Trento, for the first time after winning the fifth Scudetto in a yellow-blue jersey, of Matey Kaziyski. The crowd gave him a very warm welcome, especially in the moments before the match, when Trentino Volleyball, at the hands of its President Bruno Da Re, symbolically presented him with the banner depicting the number 1 jersey that the Bulgarian star has always worn in his 433 matches in the yellow-blue jersey, and which was officially retired today. Starting in February, it will find its place on the roof of the Palazzetto, next to the banners of the many victories that have seen him play a leading role.
