SuperLega, Itas Trentino widens the gap: +6 on Perugia, defeated in Piacenza

Saturday night's peremptory victory in Monza, in one of the three early games of the seventeenth round of SuperLega Credem Banca, actually paid off twenty-two hours after Itas Trentino had achieved it. Perugia’s 1-3 defeat on Sunday at the PalaBanca in Piacenza confirmed the six-point lead that the Italian Champions had provisionally put between itself and the Umbrians in the standings thanks to the 3-0 win at the Opiquad Arena.
This is the biggest lead achieved by the yellow-blue team this season, since they rose to the top (Nov. 12 - round four); Soli's team has lost only one game so far (at Modena on Dec. 10) and is fresh off eight consecutive league victories, all by three points. That recent haul has allowed them to increase their lead virtually to seven points because, should they finish tied on points with Sir Susa Vim, Trento could still count on one more win than their opponents.
The road ahead for Itas Trentino between now and the end of the regular season will consist of three home games (Feb. 14 with Civitanova, Feb. 18 with Modena, March 3 with Padova) and two away games (Feb. 10 in Catania and Feb. 25 in Perugia).
