Itas Trentino-Valsa Group Modena 3-0, the match report

The match report. Fabio Soli confirmed the sextet used consistently during the last three matches: without Sbertoli, Acquarone was again at the direction and Rychlicki at the opposite position, Michieletto and Lavia were in the band, Kozamernik and Podrascanin acted in the middle of the net, Laurenzano in the second line as libero. Modena responded with Bruno at the setter with Davyskiba on the diagonal, Juantorena and Rinaldi as outside hitters, Brehme and Sanguinetti as middle blockers, Gollini as libero. The first acceleration is signed by Michieletto (4-2), imitated a few moments later by Podrascanin, who stops Brehme at the block for 6-3 (time out Giuliani). At the resumption of play two aces by the number 5 from Trentino further widened the gap (8-3), before Juantorena tried to sound the charge (9-7).
The hosts smelled the danger and in the central part of the match kept their opponents at a distance (11-8 and 14-11 and 18-15), also thanks to the many direct service errors committed by the guests and to the efficiency of their own ball change. On 20-17 a ball change, a block by Davyskiba on Michieletto and an ace by Sanguinetti on the same attacker put the situation back on a level playing field at 20. Itas Trentino took refuge in a time out and immediately afterwards started again with Rychlicki and Lavia (23-20) and closed the account on 25-22 with an attack by Lavia.
After the change of court Modena tried to enter the second set with a different attitude (3-5), but its attempt to escape lasted only a few moments, because Lavia and Michieletto immediately ensured the hook at six and the subsequent overtaking (8-7). As time went by, the ITALIAN CHAMPIONS took more and more speed (13-11 and 17-13) thanks to the place 4 pair but also at the hands of an increasingly incisive Rychlicki. In the final the hosts ramped up (21-14), increasing their defensive intensity and their ability to capitalise on what they had gathered in the second line; the 2-0 lead came as early as 25-19, after Soli had called a timeout on 22-17. On the wave of enthusiasm, the tricolours got off to a flying start in the third set (6-3 and 10-6), led by Podrascanin and Lavia; Giuliani then changed the main diagonal (in Boninfante and Sapozhkov) which brought his team back on track (12-10). Itas Trentino does not disassemble, suffers (13-12, Sanguinetti's block on Michieletto), but then restarts with Rychlicki (16-13). The decisive push seemed to come from Lavia (20-16 and 22-17), but Modena fought back until 22-21 with its Russian opposite number in evidence on serve. The 3-0 lead was sealed on 25-21 thanks to a decisive double attack by Rychlicki interspersed with an ace by Kozamernik on Rinaldi.
