Coppa Italia, Itas Trentino closes 2024 with a 3-1 home win against Cisterna

The Itas Trentino men’s team wraps up 2024 by securing qualification for the Del Monte® Italian Cup Final Four, the first major event of 2025, which will once again take place at the UnipolArena in Bologna at the end of January.
The last official match of the calendar year saw the European Champions defeating Cisterna in the single quarterfinal match of the top national trophy. The 3-1 victory, achieved after ninety-nine minutes of play, allows Trentino Volley to extend its remarkable streak. In Emilia, just under a month from now, the Gialloblù will be competing in the semifinal (against Civitanova) of the Italian Cup for the 16th consecutive time—no other club has ever achieved this in the competition’s history.
The certainty of participating in the weekend of January 25 and 26, where the 47th edition of the Italian Cup will be decided, came at the end of a match that Trento always seemed to control, even when the opponents threatened in the final moments of the first set (which the hosts won 25-23 after leading 14-9) or won the third set 22-25, reopening a match that seemed destined for a 3-0 after the first two sets. Once again, Alessandro Michieletto came to the rescue, finishing as the top scorer (30 points, with a 69% attack efficiency, two blocks, and three aces) and MVP of the match. His performance was a key factor in the team’s overall impressive attack (59% with only one error in four sets), and service (10 direct points). The positive impact of Gabi Garcia (10 points, 64% attack efficiency, and one ace) and Flavio’s consistent contribution (11 points, 73% in first-tempo attacks, two blocks, and one winning serve) rounded off the team’s performance, despite Ramon and Flavio (34 points combined) on the opposing side continuing to fight until the end.

Below is the score sheet for the Del Monte® Italian Cup 2025 quarterfinal match played this afternoon at the ilT quotidiano Arena in Trento.
