Itas Trentino crowned Italian Champions for the Sixth time!

Another tricolour 7th of May! Seventeen years after their historic first title on this very same date (May 7, 2008), Itas Trentino are once again the Italian Champions – for the sixth time in club history!
The golden era of the yellow-blues continues: after claiming the Italian Championship in 2023 and the CEV Champions League in 2024, tonight in Civitanova Marche, Trentino Volley stitched the Scudetto patch back onto their jerseys, sealing the title in the most prestigious and competitive men’s volleyball league in the world. They capitalized immediately on the first of two opportunities to close out the SuperLega Credem Banca Finals series – and did so on the home court of Cucine Lube Civitanova.
It was the perfect crowning moment to a season in which Trentino played a leading role in every competition: Supercoppa (Final), Club World Championship (Final), Coppa Italia (Semifinal), and CEV Cup (Final). The only thing missing was a title – and it arrived right at the season’s end, just as it did last year in Antalya. Game 4 broke the pattern of the previous matches in the Finals, where the home team had always won in straight sets. The turning point came in the second set, when Trento mounted a comeback from 20–23 to take it 28–26, after dropping the opening set in a manner that seemed reminiscent of Game 2, lost 3–0. The serves by Michieletto, attacks by Lavia, and rock-solid blocking and defense shifted the momentum of the set – and ultimately the entire match and series.
Riding that wave of momentum, Trento dominated the third set and weathered Cucine Lube’s final push in the fourth. The tie-break was all Trentino: with Michieletto (top scorer and MVP, 67% in attack, 2 blocks, 4 aces), Rychlicki (who scored the match point), and captain Sbertoli leading the way, the team brought the tricolour title back to Trentino for the sixth time. Trento: six-time Italian Champions!
