A welcome return to the staff: Davide Grigoletto back as athletic trainer

Marcelo Mendez will not be the only new face in the Itas Trentino men’s staff that, starting in October, will defend the Championship title won by the yellow-blue Club on May 7. Alongside the Argentine coach, the other new (but not unfamiliar in these parts) face will be Davide Grigoletto.
Soon to turn forty-eight, originally from Treviso and coming off several years of experience in Piacenza, he will serve as athletic trainer for the next two seasons, taking care of the physical condition of all fourteen players on the roster. It is a very welcome return; between 2007 and 2009, Davide had already held this role for Trentino Volley, contributing to the Club’s first ever trophies: the Championship in 2008, and the Champions League in 2009. Trento was indeed the ideal launching pad for his top-level career in Italian volleyball after many years of work in Treviso’s Youth Sector, where he had taken his first steps. After that, he continued in the same role again in Treviso but in Serie A1, in Padova (A2 and SuperLega), and in Piacenza, with which he has often crossed paths with Trento as an opponent in recent seasons.
His résumé includes a degree in Sports Science and a Master’s from the University of Bologna, as well as experience with Italy’s youth national teams and with Switzerland’s senior national team. He also maintains an active collaboration with the University of Padua (Department of Biomedical Sciences), as a lecturer in “Training Methodology” and as a researcher and author of scientific articles on sports performance.
“Rejoining the Trentino Volley sports project is a great personal satisfaction – explained the new athletic trainer Davide Grigoletto –. Trento is essentially where my career at the highest level of Italian volleyball began, so I’m very happy with the opportunity and the trust the Club has once again given me. Compared to my first experience with the yellow-blue team, I find a Club even more organized, aware, and established at the top level—characteristics that will allow me to work even better also thanks to the professional experience I’ve gained over time. This Itas Trentino is a team of very strong players in every aspect: physical, technical, but also mental, because in key moments they never give up. I will work to give my contribution, to try to achieve the goals we will set at the beginning of the season”.
