After the brake due to the Del Monte Coppa Italia 2015, ENERGY T.I. Diatec Trentino gets back on track in the UnipoSai SuperLeague with yet another victory against Sir Safety Perugia. Eight days after the semi-final game played in Bologna, Radostin Stoytchev’s team repeated their exploit, this time overtaking the Umbrian team, standing in 4th position in the general ranking, by a clean 3-1.
This result is very useful to block the attempted getaway of Modena, who won 3-0 against Padua in the anticipated 15th game of the regular season, but also to keep Treia, and Perugia itself well away from the top ranks. Albeit the fatigue caused by an unprecedented intense session of games (tonight’s match at PalaTrento was the sixth official game played in the last fifteen days), Birarelli and Co. have been very good at keeping up with an intense rhythm, bite the bullet and take home yet another victory for the championship (thirteen victories in fourteen games) maintaining also intact the streak of home victories. Stoytchev’s team, though, had to loose ground again before starting to show once again their best game, and after catching up as usual, crowning their victory. In the first set Perugia had given more than once the idea of being the leader on the court, but to ruin their plans, the Bulgarian coach made an unexpected move: during the second set, when the team was winning 7-5, he took Zygadlo out and replaced him with Giannelli, leaving him in the game until the end. Only 18 and a half years old, the very young setter from Bolzano has proved to have talent and nerves, carefully leading the team to the revenge through a well-balanced and clean repartition, that also granted him the well deserved title of MVP. This way the team found a renewed vigour and better percentages on offense not only with Lanza (17 points and 53%) and Nemec (18 points and 57%, celebrated December’s UnipolSai MVP before the match), but also with Kaziyski and Solé, very much inspired in the block. Perugia couldn’t keep up any more with the rhythm of their opponents, who grew also in the block and in defence, so that the many mistakes they made in the service and the obvious difficulties they had under the net left ample space to the home team for action.
