No satisfaction for Trentino Diatec in the Del Monte® SuperCup 2016. After losing the semi-final against Modena on Saturday, this afternoon the team of Trento lost also the final for the third place. The k.o. arrived at the tie-breaker after 2.15 hours of play against Cucine Lube Civitanova, which was dragged by the former Sokolov and played without Juantorena; the yellow-blue team placed fourth without collecting victories, but getting useful information about the work for next week in order to be ready for the debut in SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 (on Sunday 2nd October at PalaTrento against Vibo Valentia).
Although the stakes weren’t so important, the two teams fought a battle that ended to the tie-breaker; in the first and fourth sets they were almost close giving the public of Modena a real show in terms of emotions.
For a Diatec Trentino in search of continuity, positive performances for Stokr (22 points with 52% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace) and for the middle blockers Solé-Mazzone, who, as happened on Saturday in the semi-final against Modena, collected good percentages in attack (50% for the Argentinian and 64% for the Piedmontese) also adding a steady presence of the block (4 blocks for Sebastian and 3 for Daniele). The efficiency of the service is still to be revised: the service was good, in particular with Giannelli (3 aces), but it has brought about too many mistakes in a lot of key moments of the match (30 services out).
