The seventh day of regular season of SuperLega Unipolsai 2017/2018 sets aside the fifth seasonal championship defeat for Diatec Trentino. The yellow-blues had in fact to give up on the field of the leading team, Sir Safety Conad Perugia, in three sets, at the end of a match that Angelo Lorenzetti’s team fought very hard without being able to obtain any point for the its ranking position.
The invincibility of the team from Umbria and the resulting first place in ranking were confirmed counting on the block phase and on the spikers, but the result of 3-0 has never been so frustrating for Angelo Lorenzetti’s team which, without Kovacevic (stopped from a back pain shown in the morning), fought until the end without the hosting team.
With a Vettori on fire in the net area and at service (best yellow-blue scorer with 16 points and 3 aces) and Kovacevic’s substitute Hoag always decisive (13 scored points with 2 blocks and 55% in the net area), well helped by Giannelli, Diatec Trentino withstood for long the high pace of the opponents, giving up only in the final sprint of all the three sets. Together with the growing performance of the whole team remains, though, the regret of not having exploited at least one of the five available set balls in the third set, a situation that, with a bit of luck as well, could maybe made the final part of the match absolutely different.
